World's Largest Digging Machine!

the company firewall is blocking that site.... cause of the word 'SEX'

so tell me is that a real digging machine or are we talking about giant vibrators there?

Yes it's big, and yes it's real, and yes those images seem to take a round now and then in pretty much every board on the net.

The word 'SEX' is nowhere in the page source, and there's no ads, so it's strange that you were blocked.
Try to access the images directly:

But doesn't the bucket wheel rotate the wrong way on the last one?

thanx, i already took another pc to acces the site.

btw those urls are also blocked ;)

you can find some nudity at their homepage so thats maybe the reason

I saw a programme about large machines and that was on it.
Those pics aren't from it actually doing its job, but from when they were driving it from one site to the next.
It was a massive logistical excercise in itself which took months of planning and required that dirt road being purpose built for it.
I think they had to move some powerlines too.
The thing took days to get to where it was going - a few miles away!

so HOW the hell do they build these kind of monsters?

on site? piece by piece and attached later on ?

transformers come to my mind

Errrr.. I'm not surprised! There was a nice page of impressive pictures and then a link at the bottom for "More big crap like this at www.skoopy.com"..... so I clicked it at work... then hastily closed the window again.

Lol me too! exactly the same. thank god they're on a slow server, only had time to load the top of a very trashy looking girl and i promptly closed the window!

These are digging up and processing "brown coal", which can be found at just about surface level in some parts of Germany. "Real" coal is somewhere between 500m and 3km below ground in Germany, so this is much cheaper.

Here's more about one of the machines. Highly recommended reading if you can get it translated.

And this is what you end up with after the work is done (click on the picture). That's one of the reasons why this sort of energy production has always been controversial.

I've seen this machine several times on the Discovery Channel's Monster Machines show. Very interesting watch, seeing those huge things in action is really shocking.

They hatch a baby one at the mine and let it feed on lignite (i.e. soft coal) until it grows larger and can eat anthracite.

i dont want to see 2 of those giant metal animals homping eachother to make a baby diggin machine... whoha
