New Red Steel Trailer, can I say target render reached.

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/821/821973/vids_1.html

Some nice lighting and textures, I can't wait to see a new high quality trailer for MP3. I'm not complaining about the price of anything, I'm more bothered with having to pay 60 bucks for one title on my 360. Maybe Nintendo decided to add more memory, something like 128megs.

Personally I think it is real time, and it still isnt comparable to E3 trailer:cry:, anyway it is much better than the E3/GC build.

in the meantime, three new MP3 videos at IGN.

btw, after the latest controls revamp article by IGN my expectations for this title really grew.. as if they were not big enough before.. damn, i know retro are only human, and i know they can err (i can write an essay on what went wrong with MP2's presentation) but eveything they've shown so far from this title speaks class. i think i may just end up a sucker for this title.

ed: Ooh-videogames beat me to it.

I think Wii will surpass the render, not knowing the specs of Hollywood makes whatever developers acheive more surprising. Its more to this game then what has been shown, compared to the concept art shots.

after watching the 120MB+long MP3 trailer from Sep 14, i can sincerely say that if retro deliver _this_ level of level design and visual quality* in the final release, i'll be perfectly happy if every single one of the rest of the wii games sucks giraffe's balls.

* or at least whatever i could infer from the low-res trailer.

ed: oh, and the next persion who says 'but we don't know if hollywood is any better than flipper' wins the title 'moron of the month'.

What trailer? You must point me to this trailer. I've been wondering if the 250 price tag may have more to do with a increase in main memory.

OH, you said rare.

Im not sure that this is the appropriate thread, but would gc hardware be able to take a video stream and split it into 48 little sections and then allow you to put them back together like a puzzle?? (im assuming that 48 is as playable as the 6 demonstrated in the vid, otherwise they wouldn't have the option would they??)

Anyway the demo is at about 7 minutes into the vid

I haven't watched the video, but this shouldn't be a problem for any hardware that can play MPEG video. The videostream itself is coded into discrete blocks, it's just a matter of positioning them differently on the screen.

The game looks fine, but if I'll ever see someone playing that game and looking as MEGADORK as the guys playing in the Red Steel trailers I'll

A
beat the crap out of them and
B
Steal their lunch money.

Red Steel looks nice, though not as nice as the E3 trailer, which I believe was realtime on higher-end ATI hardware.

That is great controls, now we are starting to be happy (althought I think one extra step of precision/speed would be very cool for the more hardcore gamers), it is also very nice to see that they did what I thought that is needed to get better controls on FPS.

The game is also looking much better due to the bloom lighting (althought not as good as I would like), lets hope at least for widescreen.

I think Wii will surpass the render, not knowing the specs of Hollywood makes whatever developers acheive more surprising. Its more to this game then what has been shown, compared to the concept art shots.

That is more or less my thoughts too.

BTW it is just me or RE:UC look great (very reminiscent of the original videos of RE4).

Well, it is the same engine, and I'd imagine much of what was limiting RE4 from looking better was memory and not processing power. (texture quality and color depth)

Does 24bit color and 24bit depth equal 48bit color?

Reason I ask, in a Nintendo patent, this is how its described. It also mentions 96bit, which is something I don't understand.

The patent is about reconfigurable pixel formats.

I've decided to provide a link, http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...=Nintendo.ASNM.&OS=AN/Nintendo&RS=AN/Nintendo

reconfigurable embedded frame buffer which can be selectively configured to store any of the following pixel formats: 48 bit point sampled color and Z; 96 bit super-sampled color and Z; and YUV; wherein the embedded frame buffer is further selectively configurable to store the following 48 bit formats: RGB8 and 24 bit Z; and RGBA6 and 24 bit Z; and wherein the 96 bit super-sampled format includes three super-samples each having a R5G6B5 color and 16 bit Z format.

Just curious as to what it means.
