Who has the best looking FSAA?

Having played Il-2 on the V5 for months before getting my Geforce4.
I can say the G4 PALES in comparison on the FSAA i have noticed in this game. But the tradeoff is by cranking up the AF on the G4 i get much crisper landscape on the ground. Plus i think the visual quality overall is a tad bit better on the G4 under OpenGL in this game as i can have FULL visual options.

Hey boys,

I'm pulling a little more OT here @ work, but I'll slap some fotos when I get home later tonight...So, let's get the ball rollin'

OK guys...

I've taken a bunch of screens with IL2 and FS2002...So, let me figure out where I want to put them, and then I'll put a link in this thread.

OK...here's the first one.

The IL2 shots were taken @ 1280x960, w/ 16xFAA.

Thats's pretty damn good, Typedef Enum, but how's the texture aliasing? I think that with the Matrox & the Radeon 9700....I think we can now safely say that the V5's FSAA has been finally beaten......about friggin time! Hopefully NV30 will also be added to the list.

Did anybody take into consideration ATi's FSAA Quality Mode on the 8500 ?

Back in the first SV driver set 2xquality was comparable to the v5 2xAA. Through out the 9xxx/8xxx drivers though its been OGSS in anything except d3d with no fog. The mip levels also go wrong with FSAA in these drivers.

It doesn't. FAA is an edge based AA only. Just take a look at his third picture.

See where the roads meet the ground? See how the road is covered in jaggies?

FAA won't apply AA to decals or to where a texture meshes against a edge.

The Parhelia's 16x AA is an visually stunning as it is disapointing. I honestly prefer NVIDIA or ATI solutions through MSAA or FSAA.

Yeah, that has been my gripes:
The Parhelia FSAA looks sooo good, what it should've been already some years ago until NVIDIA got the death throttle on the markets... But Almost every single picture shot I've seen about the Parhelia has had real showstopper bugs. The shadows in Nascar, the windows (and roads) in the above screenshots etc. Not even their own publicity pictures are free of those... And by now my eyes are too sharp for those.

With current GPU powers I would be happy just having the lesser speed and better quality. Like for example Parhelia considering every border on top of Z-order. That would STILL be faster than my current GF2, and be as good looking as those pictures on their best!

So, I still have to wait for someone to do it, before I dare to upgrade. If the shaders won't really get an upstart, there are no other good reasons to upgrade.
(Oh, yes some games do use them, like Morrowind, and obviously some Unreal upsprings. But very rarely. Max Payne for eg didn't, nor do most of the games that I've run into. Ah, the exception of IWar2... And my GF2 is almost four years old now. 3½. Not to talk even more modern shaders...)

I am waiting for them too!!! What is going on? Anyone else willing to take similar screenshots??
