When Tuesday does the G70 NDA expire?

So the GF7800's performance is not stellar .. and Dave says we should not expect stellar performances from the R520 either. So this round of GPU/VPU's is gonna be a disappointment then hey.

/me starts flicking boogies at DW .. you awake boy!!?? :D

US j/k about the boogies DW
Good morning! Man, this thread grew a bit since last night eh?

I'm still digesting all the facts whilst dragging garbage/recycleables to the curb all the while trying desperately to pour coffee down my throat enough to wake up.

Definately a kewl thread to wake up to considering I didn't think we'd be getting these kind of leaks until tonight, but so far the answers provided have left me with more questions than anything else.

Still the alpha AA looks damned tasty to me, that fence looks perfect!

So far I'm quite enthused.

Yay for NDA translating to "publish whenever" in Mandarin

Dude, the Chinese are going to point at *your* post upstream at how easy it was to make this "mistake".

btw, as it stands now ROPs in neither G70, RSX nor NV4x run at memory clock.

Yeah, I had a chat with NVIDIA last night about various things and one of the questions I asked was about FP blend performance. ROPs run at core clock, so a 430MHz G70 can blend faster than a 400MHz NV40, all other things being equal.

Well...I hope they fixed some performances issues NV40 has with fp render targets.

Rys, geo beat me to it, but maybe they pulled an all-nighter and the coin toss told them to pull the trigger? :D

Love in Rio, I still have my doubts that AA will be free on Xenos. ATI used an example that going from 90fps w/o AA to 70fps w/2x or 4xAA (can't remember which) was free. That's not quite free, and not quite as obvious a choice when you're looking at 60fps w/o AA.

4xAA will be free on Xenos cause they designed it to support that.
Obviously it's not free in term of transistors, since edram eats something like 80+ Mtransistors and they had to split the GPU in two.

I just looked at the Chinese review.

Unless i am crazy it looks like *basically* In Shader intensive games an X800XL beats it or is within 10 FPS of it in most cases. The exception is Doom 3.

Its obvious to me that ATi has a superior Shader Core for 90% of todays games even with their Current tech. Not even getting into what the R520 is going to do.

I cant wait to see the reviews that compare a Fully loaded X850XT to the 7800. Nvidia may win only a small handfull of benchmark comparrisons.

I predict its going to be a long long day for Nvidia in the near future ;)

Well, you notice it hasn't come down tho. They must have found a really *big* rock to hide under. Let's see, what alibi can we find for them on that part? Oh, "I pulled an allnighter and slept like the dead for the next 20 hours, thru ringing phones, 2,000 emails, and the near-miss nuclear explosion at our hosting site. It's a darn shame about the 'gas leak' explosion at my apartment building, but luckily I was sleeping at my girlfriends cousin's sister-in-laws"

Those DX8/9 benches in the review are all easy-peasy - none of them really stretches the cards. Pretty useless numbers, overall, I'd say.

Anyway, I want to see the performance in Chronicles of Riddick, Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory, Everquest 2 and Battlefield 2 to see if G70 is going in the right direction.

The shader pipeline has gotten way, way more powerful, it would be nice to see if that power is relevant to games or it's just for a pissing contest

I'd say it is pretty silly to say that NV 7800GTX will win a "small handfull" of comparisons to today's top cards. This would defy all sense of reason, logic, and common sense ;)

Yeah, but think of all the fun I'd have with the nVidiots if it were true! :devilish:

Thats Pretty Funny.

I guess if they use 3dmark05, Doom3 and a couple of the extremely tweaked for Nvidia hardware games only that will likely be true. ;)

Look at the way the X800XL and 6800U stacked up here just for starters.

I guess i'll go with "silly" until proven otherwise 8)

Come back to the light, digi. Stay away from that place, or to the dark side you must go, never to return. Others have kids too, y'know.
