What will Sony add to their RSX GPU development?

Thread Pruned

I more or less pruned this thread, I left a few uncalled-for posts, because some people replied to them with thoughful answers.

Note that in the future, do not quote falmebaits/noise posts when you intend to make a good post, because most of the time the noise post will be pruned. ;)

What I make of it is Global Cache! EDRAM on RSX?

I believe that's the "Turbo Cache" that allows RSX to render either in it's local memory pool or CELL's local memory pool. It's to help reduce latencies in rendering over the CELL bus.

It's not edram for the frame-buffer, etc.

I'm guessing here,

What would we call a GPU with multiply cores....

What if each core of cell had it own GPU core to work with?

and we had two SPE for one GPU core?

IIRC it's a picture from some patent by Sony or Toshiba
Version..you're my personal hero :)

nAo,

Could answer my question.

is it even possible that the RSX has more than one core?
Oh..I can reply to that, just give me 1 bilion dollars first, so I can pay all the legal expenses :)

Version said this in the past:

"4 processor push up the cache latency, and system will be slower than with 3 ppes..."

Maybe he was talking about this in regards to the RSX...?

Independent SPE working with full programmable GPU cores (processor units)

Wow if the RSX really is a multi-core GPU that easy to work with like past Nvidia cards we could see some really cool stuff being done on the PS3!

nAo, you can't throw me off now. It just make sense. If Sony spent all that time make a multi-core CPU why would they not want a GPU the could work these SPE independently or simultaneously on task?

Just out of curiosity, nAo, DeanoC, or whoever else is currently working on a PS3 title... Do you guys actually know full well what the RSX will be? (like the architecture of it, pipelines, and feature set of it, etc, etc)

Just a yes or no (or if you can't answer it, ignore this) -- I don't want to know about it (because I know you can't answer that), but I'd like to know if you guys know exactly what it is.

Hopefully the question is broad enough that it doesn't break any NDAs to answer it? (who knows though, they'd probably prefer you act like you don't even know that the PS3 is Sony's next console ;))
