What the? Lost Planet on PS3?

I remember the devs talking in a interview or article about the xbox360 rendering explosion effects in a quarter of the games native resolution and then uppsizing the effect. This resulting in better perfomance but upclose looking blurry.

To the question, has anybody noticed if the same is applied to the PC pr PS3 version?

The last boss isn't that bad once you find a rhythm to beat him. Bosses used to be like that in the old days before everything started getting easier to better appeal to the mass console users.

I love Lost Planet! I've been waiting for some PS3 milkage so I can get my own copy and play it some more. I was wasit deep in it beofre my friends 360 lit up red!

But if the comparison above is accurate and indicitive of the final product, them Eff You, Capcom! That's won't do! No sale!

Here is the srceen shot in question:

System Wars Fodder..

That image on the left is more than likely the product of LOD over anything else...

It's amazing the lengths some people goto to try to compare multiplatform games.. Geez!

I can pretty much guarantee that this game is going to look exactly the same as the 360 version..

I have to agree it shure looks like a LOD issue rather than a downgrade, perhaps not yet done shaders for upclose detail. But I am corious to know if both versions use teh same motion-blur effect.

Yet such pictures wouldn't have much merit if there weren't other examples and/or delays of products to get them comparable. Call it system wars or whatever, but I know a number of developers who have had issues getting their games running well on the PS3 compared to their 360 version.

Based on DMC4, though, I would expect Lost Planet to be nearly identical, if not better, based on the time difference. A year later you would hope for both content and/or visual improvements/refinements.

Now that it's mentioned, it does look like a lod related thing.

If it is, then shame on the disinformative dork who slapped that horseshit together.

Rather than base ideas on the whole game performance on one screenshot, are there not more screenshots we can compare? Hasn't anyone reviewed the games and said they look very similar? Are these reviewers all crazy or lying?!?! Might be a good idea to get more information rather than pass judgement on the first report to land on the desk.

There are more ss of similar/same places for both versions. Differences there are slightly better textures/detail shader, particles and fur effect in favor of the xbox360 version so far.

When was the last time you saw LOD on something you are controlling?

That is a really good point.

Hmm... is that something the player controls ? The viewing angle is a little weird (too low).

I have not played the game but I think it is a type of floaty-camera style for the player view, not fixed directly behind the player.

Right, so the (partial) screenshot can also show another player or NPC ?

True but I am shure there is a video of the PS3 version where those ss comes from, let me just remember from where it was.

Real-time cinematic on 360.
Real-time cinematic on PS3.

That's the closest comparison I could find for any of the others, but it's easily the worst of the available PS3 pics.

1. Go to gametrailers & find me the most recent trailer of DMC4 for the PS3..
2. Observe texture, resolution, framerate, texture filtering & shader quality..
3. Find me one good [technical] reason why any of these areas mentioned in (2) should be any worse for the PS3 than on the 360 (for a game that was released originally over a year ago..)

Regardless of the crappy quality these screenshots-taken-from-compressed-video-footage-of-alleged-PS3-version, I stand by my previous statement in that I really don't see any reason why the two versions will/should differ & I also agree with shifty that any attempt to conclude otherwise at this stage (with the severely questionable and limited information/media available currently) is either futile or a deliberate attempt to incite system-wars-esque trolling..

I agree with what you're saying. There's probably no technical reason for the port not looking at least equal to the XB360 game. At this point though, if these screenshots are anything to go by, I think it falls a little short in some areas.

It's an "early 2008" game so there’s plenty of time.
