What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

There's a bunch of stuff on them that you can blow up, but the rigs themselves are invincible.

Yeah. Kinda makes me wish for something like Geomod. In fact that's the one thing I hate about this game: hunting down that last damned destructible piece of environment which separates you from that desirable 100% completion rate. The search can get quite time consuming and annoying, and it feels more than just a little bit at odds with the anarchist vibe of the game. That passenger plane should have obliterated the target, instead it did as much damage as a hand grenade.

That is a very annoying oversight in the game design IMO. It can take ages exploring some of the larger settlments to find that last damned transformer that's hiding behind a tree. I've blanketed entire areas from above with helicopter fire for minutes and come up short.

Mafia II and my my ! I have never seen a more beautiful game before ! Excellent art sensibility, excellent graphics, spot on atmosphere , superb voice work and a beautifully orchestrated story start ! Love it ! :D :D :D   Oh ! And the music is spellbinding too ! :p

Once again the Gaming Gods appeared to me in a vision and told me that several sacred silver discs of goodness were to be located in the local charity shops
and so the quest began...
after bartering with the local peasants I aquired
StarWars battlefront 2 (disc only no case) for 50p
Sanity aitken's artifact £1
prisoner of war £1
FIA Gtr 2 £1
Spiderman £1
Nolf £1

Spiral Knight (Zelda like, but F2P which means castrated. Done with it after reaching Tier 2. Repetitive as you'd expect from MMOG.)
Tropico 3 + Absolute Power
Assassin Creed (Climbing, jumping, stealing from thugs and rescuing citizen... sometimes assassinating too.)
Sanctum (find the good tower/weapon ratio & best path)
HOARD (only fun in multi)
WH DoW2 Retribution (finished Campaign, was average)
Portal 2 (finished solo, clearly not as good as Portal, but good nonetheless)
SpaceChem (only began, a game that requires brain power...)
Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light (fun online coop)

All gotten through steam summer sales for dirt cheap, except DoW2 Retribution which wasn't worth 15€ really :(.

Oh, I do and Nolf 2 but its worth £1 for a backup (must find contract jack one day for completeness even though its supposed to be like nolf with all the good bits removed)

Contract Jack wasn't bad, although definitely not as good as NOLF. They need to do another proper NOLF game.

Regards,
SB

Nice catch!

I had great fun playing Spiderman and NOLF.

Still find myself playing Defense Grid more than anything else lately. Such amazing value for $$$

Snap. If you fancy a bit of competition my Steam nick is the same as this one. I've just beaten everyone on my friends list on all maps, apart from one of the devs who has me pipped on a few. :p

My dad and I have had running battles on the leaderboards for months. Great game with tons of longevity.

Me too!
Since they introduced cloud saves I'm on a mission of beating all levels again (I've lost my saves)! Of course gold is the only option for me :)

Mmm, I should redo defensegrid as well. On XB I completed it to have score within first 1k on every level on campaign challenge mode, record was #4 on one map that I can't remember. Too bad XB and PC hold different scoreboards, not having XB any more I haven't bothered to redo the levels on normal to get to the meaty stuff yet.

How do you compete online in Defense Grid? Can't say I've ever looked at multiplayer.

Ah ok, that's what he meant by competition. I think the best I've done so far is around 500th or so on 1 of the levels. Usually hover around 1000-1500ish after the 3rd or 4th try at different setups. So not bad I guess, but definitely not world class :p

I've been in the top 10 a couple of times on a couple of map/modes, and still top 100 in a handful (people just keep beating my scores), just got a 20something yesterday on a fairly obscure mode of a particular map, but I don't employ a particular tactic which keeps me out of getting much further.

The tactic is to create a long path which you can switch by building and destroying one or two cheap gun towers, to keep the aliens bouncing back and forth indefinitely. I have no problem with people doing this.. I'm just not bothered enough to master it myself (it's quite hard!).

I lost all my saves too, and since spotting the latest update have decided to go and get all my golds again. Love the dev for implementing steam cloud... a lot of the fans of the game had been asking for it on their forums and they delivered.
