Uncharted : Drake's Fortune*

 I forgot about people with bandwidth limits ! Sorry... was a joke someone pulled on me, and being a jerk that I am, I passed it along.

I know they are doing ARG on Uncharted. I wonder how well it works for them for this campaign.

Also in HD - the only thing I get is a black screen.

Overhere too. Damn you Sony, this better have a REALLY good and plausible explanation for this cock up. I waited 1 hour in front the !*ç/+ download screen for this one.

It´s on the US store, europeans are not supposed to have it yet. There is your reason and excuse..

Still sux of course :(

I can confirm this, it just stays at a black screen when i try to load it! When i try o leave the game, the system resets itself!

what the fuck? You mean I am currently downloading it for nothing??????????????????? I have a PAL PS3!!!!!!!

Yes you are, if you start the game with a Game Disc inserted you will most likely get a black screen, without a disc it will ask for game disc.

God damn it!!!! I am so fucking pissed now!! That means I ll have to wait for months probably to e able to get the demo!! grrrr

Some impressions from PS3Forums:

My impressions:

Oh my word. Just amazing.

The shadows are detailed and not blurred out to nothing like in games like Halo 3. You can see the leaf detail on the shadows, the the leaf shadows move to the sway of the trees.

Water looks great. LOVE the effect of the water on Drake.

Looks amazingly clean but totally detailed.

Environments look amazing. PS3 games as of now have ZERO problems with textures. If these devs can do it, then it's obvious that the PS3 can do it.

Enemy character models and Drake himself look flipping awesome

And what can I say about animations? As of now, scripted stiff animations are last gen. This is the first next gen game for animations. The animation blending is brilliant. Other games have good animations, but just in scripted scenes like in Mass Effect during dialog. This game has amazing animations as you play.

Gunplay is great. The people who knock it are those who haven't played it.

The facial expressions on Drake add a lot to this game. Again, anything with stiff expressionless facial animations are last gen from this point on. And the variety is sweet.

Back to the trees. Wind seems to effect the trees as it moves from one area to the next. It's not like the trees are just swaying to nothing. A gust of wind will move from say the left to the right, and the trees will move more accordingly. Awesome.

Demo impressions for me: 10/10. I would for sure give the edge to this demo over the R&C demo, which was also stunning. But this one ups it for sure.

10/10

The graphics, I was worried because usually when you see a small video on the internet its hard to tell whats what fully, and the compacted resolution of the video can really hide a lot of visual problems or bad looking graphics. When fully expanded to proper screen size sometimes when you play a game, the final product or the demo it doesn't look very good. Well...

.. This is different. Uncharted is amazing looking. The graphics are superb. The water looks very good, the forest is alive with flora and fauna (Plants, etc.) and it really REALLY looks great. The leaves are so smooth and have great texture to them, all the plants look different and it REALLY shows off how amazing a game can look on the PS3. You really gotta see it to understand how good they are. The Jungle is just so impressive, its so pretty to look at! You want to play the demo just to take another look around. The ruins all over the demo are very nice looking as well, and up there on my big 60" they look just amazing. The character models are very nice looking and the animations for reloading, shooting, running and jumping are all very good. I really like his big long jump when going for a ledge. It is a very slick game, thats for sure.

The sound is nice too, good use of what they got - and the voice acting, well is very good as well.

Game play, the most important part. Its quite good, although this is just a small glimpse of the final game, in terms of range of things we get to do and weapons, scenarios, etc. So far, so good. I really like the platforming in this game, its a lot different than any other "grab the ledge, jump this, etc." game. Its so smooth and it looks really bad-ass.

The game just looks SOO darn good. The Jungle is alive with green and water, little birds and vines everywhere. The graphics are just that great.

Very good demo. Very excited for the full game, which I have on preorder. YES.

AAA++++!!!!

It downloaded pretty quickly for me, for a big demo release anyways (about 45 minutes which is crazy long for 1.2gb, but not too bad). The graphics are unbelievable in every way. It does have some minor tearing (and I noticed very minor clipping in the first cutscene), but that doesn't detract from it at all. The tearing is about the same as in Jak 3, so nothing to worry about. You don't feel the framerate drop like in heavenly sword, just a little tear with a still smooth feeling framerate. The DoF effects are the best (coolest looking to me anyways) I have ever seen in a game and a definite improvement from the E3 gameplay videos and trailers (I only really play console games since the only PC game I play is the UT3 demo).

The gameplay is very very smooth and tight feeling. I was actually a little surprised at how fast and good it felt. Aiming is extremely easy, the cover system didn't give me any trouble (I never got accidentally stuck to anything), and walking over logs was A LOT easier than I thought it would be after seeing so many videos of people falling on them constantly. Maybe they made walking on logs easier than it was at E3, but like I said it's a piece of cake. It took me a couple tries (and an unfortunate death) to get the timing down for the hand to hand combat. But once I did it was very fun.

All in all, I was very pissed off when the demo ended. And that's a good thing. I always know when a game is good when I don't notice the time passing and just keep playing.

What's your point? That as an american living temporarly abroad with a perfectly valid and correct US account but a european PS3 I am not "supposed to have it yet"? Not to mention that games have been cited to be region free... :devilish:
