Uncharted 4: A Thief's End [PS4]

I'm not talking about cartoonishness. Uncharted 3 was even more cartoony, and I think some environments on that game achieved better lighting and material consistency than what's been shown on UC4 demos. They are new to this level of fidelity, and to all the diferent stuff their new engine is doing. Some stuff ends up looking out of place.

The game is far from release.

I'm very impressed by the framerate at such an early stage of development. Even their first presentation was very solid :

For the moment, i would say their AA solution produces too much artifacts. The first presenation was better on this point.

@milk

Some thing look out of place to you, well obviously ND doesn't see it that way.
Now who's right?
IMO both you and ND are are right, customers' option matters but customers are not ones that make the game the developers are and IMO in order to understand their choices we have to go Beyond 3D taste.

Are we really discussing this considering the game hasn't shipped yet? It's not the final product. I think both parties need to take a step back, those nitpicking and those defending... and even if various areas don't get fine tuned, it's a huge game. Now we may have all the time to analyze and nitpick screenshots, but once the game is out and we are actually playing it, I'm rather doubtful those little areas will be noticeable if at all...

Yeah, i agree. I am just having a hard time trying to imagine ND failing to deliver in the technical department considering their previous work and the cooperation with studios that already deliver some stunning looking games. It also shows some drawbacks in presenting WIP code in a playable form, they could just release trailers which are tailored to look good and be done with it, instead they opt to show live gameplay and gameplay mechanics to show how the game plays rather than how it looks. And it still ends up looking amazing regardless imo.

I agree as well. Look, I think I'm passing to some as some of those idiotes who become hell bent on discreting a game they don't like for a reason or another. That's definetely not my case. I'm a great Uncharted fan, and a pretty faithfull worshipper of Naugthy Gods. I am extremelly exited for this game, and was gigling like a schoolgirl when watching each new demo of it.
I am not making a case for this game being finished or not. I'm just saying that right now, the footage shown has some imperfections, that I am atributing to their artists still getting hold of this new level of fidelity and the new tech at their disposal. Some of that will probably have improved by release, and some of it might not. I'm sure the fact that they could do better will become quite obvious after their NEXT game comes out, which I'm sure will do another leap in graphics quality. Lets just wait and see.

Oh yeah, i was pointing out some imperfections myself
It can look quite goofy at times though, example

In other cases it looks really nice, like here

But when the overall package looks this good already it's hard not to be excited about what's coming 8 months from now. Many recent games have shown incredible improvements in small periods of time (Halo 5 from E3 to gamescom for example). In fact, ND has patched some of the issues i noticed in the latest demo in the video presented by DF which is more recent than E3, the flickering reflection of the pedestrian in the E3 demo is gone in the video shown here:

I mean these things are changing from day to day, the final game will most probably look better than this video considering they have performance in check right now.

Huh, guess they couldn't wait till PGW. Uncharted 4 release date announced, collector’s editions detailed

March 18th it is.

Includes future access to the first-ever single-player story add-on for the Uncharted series and two multiplayer packs that will unlock new, rare and legendary multiplayer items

Story DLC? huh. Considering how good Left Behind was i don't have a problem but it sounds a bit weird to have DLC for the ending chapter of a story.

Statue looking a bit meh so might end up picking up the steelbook collectors edition, the packaging looks identical to the Bloodborne collectors edition which i got and i was very satisfied.

It could be anything and it may not even be Drake. Maybe they'll continue Uncharted with a new protagonist. I can dig some Chloe  How about a Sully prequel DLC?

As I said before, "ending chapter" could mean anything. He can for example break his leg and stop adventuring because of that. :)

March seems odd for this, shouldn't it be a fall title to maximize hardware selling? When did past Uncharted's launch?

Edit: In the fall.

I guess Sony has shown high PS4 sales dont really need games the last holiday, though.

Still seems a little weird if they try to maximize sales of the game itself too. OTOH, less competition I guess.

The game was supposed to be a fall title but it was delayed and it was after the departure of Amy Henning and Justin Richmond. They need to redo 8 month of motion capture for cutscene...

In March the game will sell too... Same thing for Quantum Break. Last year if Sunset Overdrive was launched after Fall, it would have probably better sales... It is a little different because Uncharted is a known franchise but for new game like SO or QB early year release is the best choice.

TLOU released in June and it sold pretty well. I don't see why they would delay this more.

Spring is often a barren period and personally I welcome some decent games in this quarter. Quantum Break releases three weeks later as well!

And Mirror's Edge and Deus Ex one month before, then Ratchet & Clank alongside Quantum Break, spring is going to be packed.
