While it's entirely fair to be a little underwhelmed by Sony's own output this fall, you can't really fault them when it comes to QA. Like em or not, but with the exception of Driveclub, all their tentpole releases on PS4 have been incredibly polished experiences so far.
Well that's just uninteresting. Worked well, but uninteresting. They used the kind where you sample everything fifty million billion times over and store the result as bluray video.
I used to watch these over and over. 2007 was indeed a good year for water.
Oh no, 720p30 cutscenes will really stand out if this remains for the final version.
I hope they spring for better compression; H.265 will do wonders for video. I would also be very disappointed if the Drake Collection's cutscenes are 720p. Not saying I wouldn't buy it, but I'd definitely think about waiting for a sale becuase thre is a lot of video in those games.
They could always include 720p video on disc (and the digital purchase) and let people download 1080p versions.
If I'm not mistaken, GOW3 remaster also uses 720p30 FMV cutscenes. :-/
The departure of Amy Henning is probaBLY the main reason of the delay of UC4.
It's the same old patent sabre rattling that occurs every time a new codec is about to leapfrog the established one. The talk of "doom" is raw FUD intended to deter prospective licensees from moving forward although few are biting. At the moment H.265 is doomed due to a new licensing body. Now we have MPEG LA and Streaming Media demanding royalties.
Also keep in mind that the AMD SoC in the PS4 doesn't have hardware decoder. Decoding > 1080p in SW is quite heavy.
I was under the impression we'll get 3 discs for remastered games.
What do you prefer: 3 games with 720p cutscenes or 1 game (like TLOUR) with 1080p cutscenes? Because re-doing cutscenes at 1080p, if possible, would take additional space, time and money (there are a lot of cutscenes in those 3 games).I hope they spring for better compression; H.265 will do wonders for video.
