Uncharted 3

Never! I'm a plasma boy, and all reports seem rather consistent in saying the LCD 3D TVs have a lot to be desired, especially compared to plasma ones. Not that i've been thinking or reading about the whole thing a lot............... :nope:

Well by the time UC3 comes out the 2nd generation of LED 3DTVs will be out and hopefully the current issues will be ironed out.

Plasma is great but I know the IR thing would annoy me to no end.

What in the hell is your job? Sounds like heaven!! Mine is boring!

Assorted roles. Clean up crew !

i'm lucky if i get a coffee in my office

You're lying ! :devilish:

What IR thing ? You mean the 3D glasses or the lack of IR remote or something else ?

I guess he means Image Retention. I'm not sure but aren't today's plasmas pretty much free of IR already, at least to the point that one shouldn't need to worry unless it's used mostly as a PC display.

Just got into that tibetan town and wow that was my first time i just could relax a bit and appreciate the fine texture work Naughty dog made.

Yap, it's not only the texture details. The atmosphere, art and setting; everything combined made me jump in excitement @ 2:00am. I nearly rushed into the bedroom to pull my wife out of bed to see it. ^_^

Eh?? Are you kidding me??

It depends on what you clean up. ^_^

Not even close ! >_<

The multi-level scene in U3 is a whole lot more convincing. I'd love some heat haze too.

Really, man? Seriously, really?! Plus, that was a cutscene.

It's not like it looks unbelievable. But sure perhaps compared to U2 but otherwise not.

Some fresh U3 shots which shows a lot of the fire.

Why are people looking at screenshots when the gameplay footage is available to see?

I like the ledge-jump take-down maneouvre.

What's realistic and what's not will depend from person to person when you compare two different games with different style, and the kind of fire and the lighting situation in both condition is completely different to draw a comparison. If we are to draw random comparison to random games then I'll give Farcry 2 a mention here as no game surpass the fire effects and behavior seen in that game.

The RE4 fire does look more natural. The ones in the U3 video look more repetitive. I think people are surprised at the extent of the fire in the burning mansion though. The scale is on another level. Not to mention, other stuff is running in parallel (e.g., Nathan's dynamic blended animation, dynamic lighting from the deferred renderer). Some of us will eventually see this in 3D too.

Don't be surprised if ND upgrade the effects further if people complain too much. They are one year away.

Burning mansion reminds me of TR: Underworld, you should have a look at the opening level when the whole Croft manor is burning :p
