No framerate problems?
How's AI, by the way? Complaints I'd seen suggested that it was terrible. Did they fix it?
Are you using 1:1 pixel mapping mode? If so, can you comment on whether you see a black border around the edges? And if there are, is there any setting in the options to adjust the frame size?Pretty much no framerate problems. Too much fire can cause a slight jutter here and there and a bit of tearing, but it was never enough to affect the gameplay. Considering the amount of detail on the screen at any given moment the game moves exceptionally well.
I'm especially impressed with how good the game looks at pretty much any given distance. Oblivion looked great up close, but the lod system (at least on the 360 where I played it) was so damn obnoxious that the game basically looked like ass past a certain point. FC2 does a much, much better job in that regard: grass doesn't magically appear out of nowhere a couple of meters away from the player, it just gets a little more dense the closer you get. It's hardly noticeable unless you really look for it. I never noticed entire buildings popping into view either. You can pretty much pause and take a postcard-worthy snapshot regardless where you stand. This level of polish pretty much carries over any aspect of the graphics: lighting, shadows, textures, geometry, animation, effects - it's all of very high quality and consistently so.
PS3/360 owning graphics whores won't be disappointed, I'm sure of it.

Anyhow, maybe you FPS pros will have a different take on it but a mediocre player like me is just not having much fun with it. I'm going to give it a few more hrs this morning to see if it changes/I can adjust but as of now I'm glad it was just a rental for me.
The bad, I have few issues with possibly the biggest being it reminds me why I'm not enamored with the FPS genre. The iron sights are worthless with your target usually completely hidden behind the barrel and the recoil jumping to the point that one shot moves you off a target you can't see to begin with.
The fire is cool but since you're in run 'n gun mode stealth and strategy is out the window so it's little more than a gimmick at this point for me.
Oh, and the last stand thingy is shit imo. I can stand there and empty a clip into the guys head and he won't die but one wack with the machete kills him?
I'd be happy using the machete more but with no reason to go stealthy.............
Sorry for triple post, but i gotta add something: the more i play this game the more impressed with the graphics i get, there is dynamic shadows all around, the draw distance is amazing, this game certainly is stunning!
No offence, but you gotta suck at FPS games, nothing wrong with the ironsights or the recoil, aim at the chest, fire, recoil goes upwards and usually hits the head. (You can also upgrade the recoil, accuracy etc on weapons)
Are we playing differen't games? 1 shot to the head kills people instantly in my game.
Mod : I've moved the warmongery discussion to a separate realism thread, so this thread can focus on the actual game.
