I went to sleep thinking of the levels I'm going to make. Enough. I may try to focus on WipeoutHD instead today. Hurry up Store update... :(

The menu system for creating is really great. But given the abundance of USB ports (on a 60gig) I would love MM to implement KB and Mouse control for level creation.

Probably more work than it's worth but I'm just not used to "working" with a controller. Certainly item selection is fine, it's the moulding and placement of shapes where a mouse would really shine.

A man can dream... :)

If it's any consolation, the controller is so well implemented that I never felt I wanted to use anything else. Given a choice right now I would probably even prefer the controller.

And of course for typing text, you can in fact hook up a keyboard. ;) I use this all the time, for enterying comments or whatever.

Oh absolutely - it's really intuitive. I think I must be frustrated that I haven't completed a level yet and am looking for an excuse!

My work means a lot of analysis, absorption of info etc. I never really get to engage the creative flow and the framework for that flow. For example only last night did I think I should really create a load of devices/shapes so I can just copy them into my levels. Whereas prior to that (i.e. yesterday) I'd been struggling manfully and stupidly on individually on each item. Duh.

Once more back to the breach. I'm focusing totally on the traditional platformer mechanics; not like some of the really creative stuff that's gone up so far. I need to do the genre justice...

Cheers.

Yes, but not enough people do though.

EDIT: Arwin, you need to continue whatever you're working on. They are very "Guillermo del Toro". I'd love to see more. Seriously.

You can record videos ingame and straight onto youtube? Aka PJ Eden? If so...WoW!

I couldn't get into LBUncharted! And were you with me arwin when I said the levels wouldn't load? Or was that Hanky? Damn...I was falling asleep at the end, it was 2am. When you left, I actually did just fall asleep with my little guy sitting in his pod, looking around as my hand swayed around holding the sixaxis controller. :D

I think it's amazing you can fill a room with flowers and springy stars...so many physics operations going on plus with good textures, and not a dip in the framerate.

One thing that is annoying though - LAG.

Yeah and apparently performance is going to be much better in the final version too.

Did I hear you hit a girl in LBP ? Not nice. :p

LBUncharted is a simple level with timing puzzles. I think the base framework is nice enough for more advanced work.

I like DocEvil's levels so far. Haven't tried other GAffers' work.

I think I've done all the tutorials now that unlock additional objects and such. That's loads! Everything we've ever seen in any of the videos seems to be in there and more. Seems that particularly this part of the game is what they wanted to beta test!

Just creating creatures alone is so much fun! I just finished creating my first little experiment, that could be the basis for a lot of interesting creature types. Creature creation possibilities here are enormous, I think!

EDIT: some comments from MM themselves on the beta:

Cool! I think you should give me one of your airballons as a gift :D I'll complete a task to earn it if you like :D Or we can do a swap...I have a crazy Dog and a crazy sheep...both are complete utter retards...ecause I couldn't balance the dog properly, so he likes to walk on his front legs lol.

And I was bit disturbed by your crazy costume when you fell into my pod. I got so destressed that I covered hanky in springy stars in a fit.

Haha...how did you find out about that? And hit? I was slapping her around..as was my brother. In our defence she was trying to put kiss stickers on our faces! I covered her in flowers and googley eyes >_<

Lol. It's like being at school again.

Yesterday Little Big Slider was on Little Big Planet for hours. Time really does fly. I've set myself a time limit today though.

Wow, great examples guys...I'm thinking the main limitations are your imagination!

I can't wait for this and a chance to get my creative side going - not since Bolderdash construction kit have I been so 'head filled' with ideas for levels! :D

hhhmm...can you make a cannon big enough to fire your SB through a flimsy wall? lol

Also, Arwin...did you control the camera at all? There;s the bit running along the bottom where the camera kind of pans round a bit?

I'm actually not sure - there's an option to draw camera focus momentarily onto a creature I think when it first comes into view, and I may have experimented with that setting a little, but I'm not sure. I did no manual camera controlling while making this video otherwise, and you can currently only do that manually when in hover mode.

This game is going to be insane. Far more depth that I had anticipated.

The high end creation stuff is probably too time consuming for casual players to get into. But at least everyone will have fun playing some truly amazing levels.

True, but isn't that the glory of sharing? People can make something - share it - and then people with less 'ability' tweek it.

This game is truely endless.

God PLEASE let me get into the beta...I'm at bursting point!!

The beauty is that you can get unlimited content for free.

Even if your just a casual, after you completed the game, you can allways download new levels withotu having to pay.

There's a video (not a tutorial) under gameplay kits in your Tools Bag that lets you fiddle with the camera angles. Pretty sweet. If I can suss out my gf's camera I'll upload a pic or two.

EDIT: Here and here.

They're 800x600 so don't click if you don't wanna see a couple of boring screenshots...
