I actually managed to get in and played it for a while last night.

I'm most likely going to be too lazy to go into the level creating stuff. I can't say the same for my girlfriend though.

I have a few questions.

1. How do we play multiplayer on the same machine?
2. I tired to do 'play online' in hopes that I would play with some other people, but haven't managed to. What is going on?
3. On the same PS3 user, is it possible to have multiple LBP characters? I want my girlfriend to try playing when she comes over, but I want her to have her own character/Pod, go through the tutorials herself, etc.

I have not tried MP myself but for #3: If she has a different account on your PS3, she will have her own game save. I tried it.

Online gameplay should be active now since the GAFfers are all over it.

1. If you have multiple sixaxis attached and they're turned on then already right at the beginning the game will ask the additional players to join in. If you've got an account created on your PS3 for that player then you can select to use that account too which is nice.
2. I don't know - it worked for me fairly effortlessly. Try it in a few different contexts, and a few different times. If it really doesn't work, could it be your router/firewall?
3. See 1 or Pats answer. Just make an account for her. You can also save different customisations of Sackboy per player, but that's not what you mean I think. ;)

Looking forward to doing some more testing tonight. I'm really hoping I can convince my wife to at least try this game, and maybe this weekend even try three player local game (although online 3 player works fine and there's really hardly a difference, so that's cool).

According to people who tried it (in GAF), in local co-op games, LBP can retrieve characters from another local PS3 account to use. So you can certainly play with your girl friend's character together even if she has a different PS3 account.

How? Where do I leave my feedback? I mean, I enjoyed the demo / beta, but the only thing it's testing is their servers...

Found a crasher (while using PS Eye to capture a photo). I left my feedback on their official site.

Thank you Arwin and patsu for your concise and easy to understand answers. I will try it out when I get home tonight :D

More beta key giveaway planned:

am, SCE Developer, has just revealed through the official SCEA Forums new details on how the LBP Beta key giveaway process will be done. Sam stated that 'More codes are being issued through a website today, but I'm unable to say which one.'

Other than that, this is what Sam declared:
-Several sites will be giving out thousands of codes in the next 5 days.
-Email invitations are being sent today.
-These are the only ways to get into the beta.
-The LittleBigPlanet News Site will be giving out more details tomorrow.

EDIT:

Meristation (Spain) has one running now:

I missed the rush, but I'm not too bothered. Don't really have enough time for anything at the mo'.

How extensive/limited are the creation options? Are most devices and controls available, or are a lot locked out?

The basic tools are there (e.g., PS Eye camera, stickers, character customization, emitters, ...). I think they are still keeping some under-wraps (I believe Evans said so).

There are also some (e.g., gravity changer) that may not be in the game, but planned.

BTW, this build is old.

You should grab one and install when you have the time. That's what I did. I have only completed the 2nd level. It's a nice little distraction from work.

I think I've done all the tutorials now that unlock additional objects and such. That's loads! Everything we've ever seen in any of the videos seems to be in there and more. Seems that particularly this part of the game is what they wanted to beta test!

Just creating creatures alone is so much fun! I just finished creating my first little experiment, that could be the basis for a lot of interesting creature types. Creature creation possibilities here are enormous, I think!

EDIT: some comments from MM themselves on the beta:

Cool and freaky! They look like they're tracking Sackboy. Is that a behaviour that can be attached? Can 'homing baddies' be added?

Edit : I guess (or hope) it won't be long before someone (LlBiPl.net?) posts an extensive guide to the creation mechanisms.

 Whose SackBoy is that ? That's rad !

EDIT: Arwin, is that your SackBoy ? The Youtube poster is Arwin14.

I shall post this over at GAF for you.

Yeah, that's Arwin. When I first saw his sackboy get up I did a double take.

I think this game more than any needs people to have voice comms. Especially when you're playing the user created levels.
