Has anyone played it with family/Significant Others/neices and nephews/casual visitors? What are responses like, particularly with the non-gamer contingent?

Continuing with my Thirst for LittleBigKnowledge, can someone confirm the maximum height a Sackboy can jump without aids? From vids it looks like about 1.5 to 2 Sackboys height. I've just started work on my Eurogamer/SCEE level competition entry and this is important to know for planning puzzly bits.

That's accurate. You cannot reach 3 square tall level.

I will be able to know this weekend.

I am disappointed there is no McCain + Palin LBP levels yet.

That's why I told you to get a beta code :p

It's hard to explain because you're missing all the little things they do to encourage community building. The current beta does not have 5-star rating (The final one does). But you get to label levels with shared preference tags (e.g., challenging, beautiful, crazy, ...) and also you can say whether you heart or unheart a level.

You will also be alerted of your friends' activities and recommendations in the game.

I think the GAF list is just a short list of preferred games by a few GAffers, but I do agree with some of the selections I played.

EDIT: Also Arwin, I am STILL interested to see what you want to do with those balloon creatures. :)

Arwin, though (I assume) your creatures are useless it's pretty inspiring, great stuff.

Easier said then done. :/
I have been trying to avoid betas but this pain of being LBP betaless grows by second.
I need a key by Monday night.

Eh... I believe it might be a game of "Deal or No Deal" in the bridge area, followed by a "Alaska vs Russia" RTS, and a Buzz! segment on "Bush Doctrine", ...

The LBP widget thermometer's going to blow.

EDIT: I still think they should support YouTube embedding in the level. It opens up the level creation to a new (and easier) dimension.

That's very sweet!

God I could take two weeks off and not get bored with this game. I don't have that much time though and tonight Wipeout stole a bit of that time too.

This time I was just very simply messing around with creating a sort of level and that's still so incredibly basic, just experimentation. I did post it up there anyway - this is a beta test after all. ;) No creatures in there just yet, just some very basic experiments to get an understandig of what you can do and how. I made a fair bit of progress in that front. Now I have to start thinking about a theme and work out something nice to make.

It's too hard!

And I appear to have made the begining of my level really laggy because I've added a ton of stars and milk bottles...there's no framerate problems when I'm making it and playing it myself. But the begining seems to be very laggy online with friends. (Same people i was playing with gave me no lag in other levels...)

 I now know why people are laughing when they play this. You guys have been playing this online ? Some folks (1 SackBoy and 1 SackGirl) just popped into my game all of a sudden, and followed me home. Playing together in LBP is certainly fun and childish. Yes, deepbrown it's like school all over again.

gamasutra has an article on this

Gamasutra was at the recently held LittleBigPlanet game jam at NY's Parsons School of Design, discovering what one of Sony's flagship holiday titles can do in the care of some inventive students
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=20389

watching the video, I know ild hate playing the game ( I loath platformers )
but if this game takes off these characters/world/style could be the perfect mascots for sony.
IIRC recently on these forums it was mentioned a halo racing game like mariokart racing. but the halo/MGS/gears of war/resistence/god of war etc franchise's dont have the (...word)/style to succeed, this does in spades.
In fact I'ld say it's even better than mario, since the cutout scenery is even more of a individual feel than mario, youve gotta ask yourself, why hasnt anyone thought of this style before

It's shakycam.

EDIT: I played a few sessions with deepbrows. His level is pretty big (and fun !). Once the lag is fixed, the game will be "perfect" ! Right now, the lag can kill me when I play with deepbrown (or anyone in Europe ?).
