I saw some GAFfers buying PS Eye for this game. With that, voice comm. capability is included automatically. Right now, they only have in-game text chat. More would be great.

Oh, yeah. "Needs people to have voice comms" Fingers crossed they've implemented noise cancellation on the camera mic. Having the camera as a recommended peripheral, but also needing a headset or two, is gonna be a bit awkward and costly. Although I don't know how lip-sync could work with single machine coop. We might see some funny impressions as the camera mic picks up background dog barks and seagull squarks :D

Oh sh*t, forgot about echo cancellation. Then they will need headset too. Not going to happen so soon. PS Eye is a more interesting investment IMHO.

EDIT:
Yeah, that's Arwin. When I first saw his sackboy get up I did a double take.

I don't even know where he get his fake eyeball from. Need to dig into the library deeper.

This is one area Playstation Home can learn from LBP and Mainichi Isshyo.

Cool and freaky! They look like they're tracking Sackboy. Is that a behaviour that can be attached? Can 'homing baddies' be added?

Edit : I guess (or hope) it won't be long before someone (LlBiPl.net?) posts an extensive guide to the creation mechanisms.

Yeah! They're tracking alright! "Follow" is one of the brain's activities. You can also make it jump at certain intervals too (I put this on one of these creatures but it has a very subtle effect here because of the elastic bands I've used ... )

My original idea was to find out if I could make a floating creature that followed you, but first of all the floating stuff got weighted down by the brain, so I had to hold it up by the stuff that wants to actively float upwards, and then I thought I'd put a counter-weight on it so I could fairly accurately determine the right amount for floating again, but now it wouldn't actually follow me. So I figured I needed to have a wheel attached to it somewhere, and sure enough that did the trick. Resulting in this weird little fellow! :D And then of course I copied it a few times in different layers and created an object from it. Fun, I can put that creature everywhere now and it has become scaleable too.

I think just making creatures all by itself is going to be a lot of fun!

I've had the PS Eye attached the whole time but wasn't even aware of it. Didn't do much talking, not sure if that's an open mike by default or if you have to change a setting or something. I'll look into this later.

Good start anyway is to do all the creation tutorials (well, the ones that are offered through the question mark in your pop-it anyway), as that gives you a whole lot of items to play with!

@pat: sure, post it on gaf!

Ha, in the 2nd(?) stage where you have to pin the tail on the donkey/horse I managed to pin it to my sackboy's forehead. It stayed there for quite a few levels but then I selected "wash outfit" and it was gone.

So 4 is the maximum number of players in a game?

And you're basically doing co-op, trying to get through the level faster than any other group of 4 and get on the leaderboards?

You can play it in different ways - try to get as much points as you can individually or get the highest score as a group. In the 'official' levels you can cycle through high-scores for 1 through 4 players, among others - these scores would be cooperative. But in the custom levels, I think you can decide whether or not you want the score to be competitive or cooperative, not sure yet (haven't experimented with that yet ... )

Arwin, can one join in the middle of a session or must it be sync'ed (like Golf flight and traditional online games) ?

YES ! wco81. They are popping up and still being worked on...

Here's a small one by Quaz51 the Res Counter :p :

That was pretty cool. I think it's official, I may actually take off work for this game when it comes out because there will be no way I could go back into work.

I am happy for you. One of the things I wanted to try is to create a Worm game for LBP. Your cannon is indeed one of the things I can reuse :p

Are you guys recording videos in-game and uploading to Youtube?

Yes, but not enough people do though.

EDIT: Arwin, you need to continue whatever you're working on. They are very "Guillermo del Toro". I'd love to see more. Seriously.

I just tried these user created levels: The Vag of Doom, DragonSiege and LittleBigUncharted. Not bad ;)

Got to stop before I waste more time.

Great cannon demo, Quaz51! That was an idea I was penciling into a design. Nice to see it works exactly as expected.

Fantastic work Quaz! I'm impressed!

@patsu: I'm not sure actually, but I think that if deepbrown started playing a level and he's chosen 'play online' at the beginning, then I can always join him if there's room in his party.
