There's a video (not a tutorial) under gameplay kits in your Tools Bag that lets you fiddle with the camera angles. Pretty sweet. If I can suss out my gf's camera I'll upload a pic or two.

EDIT: Here and here.

They're 800x600 so don't click if you don't wanna see a couple of boring screenshots...

wow, this just gets better and better!

Thanks :)

also...

"North American PlayStation 3 owners who haven’t successfully impersonated a European citizen will get their chance over the next five days, according to Sam_Protagonist at the official PlayStation forums. LittleBigPlanet’s official website will have more information for users starting tomorrow, and while email invites directly from Sony are being sent today, fans can expect invite giveaways at North American websites, similar to what was seen in Europe."

There's just so much stuff you can do in this...are there any guides out there yet? I'm sure it won't take long...surely an official guide is a given?

The tutorials and videos are great and you can revisit them whenever you want. I haven't seen anything out there (although I haven't really looked) but I think some general pointers might help those not used to this sort of thing. Having said that, when it comes to level design, you'll only make a mistake once!

I suppose so, I was just thinking it would be nice to read through something to get an ideas of what you can and can't do...man the next few weeks are gonna drag!

The most exciting boring photo's I've ever seen! Are this camera controls that can be embedded in game, to adjust the view as the player(s) plays? Can you set a point where the play enters a zone, the camera zooms out and remains fixed until the player passes through to the other side where automatic camera picks up? Can you as a result set Extreme Closeup areas too? I have an idea that would benefit from zooming the camera in to limit the player view.

I think this is exactly the idea - like camera trigger points...IIRC the StoC LBP used them, excellent news - it's 'little' things like this I would not have thought included :)

Media Molecule needs to put in incentives to sustain the momentum. These typically mean events, rewards and more/easier tools. Whatever DLC they planned should come quickly and regularly (1-2 months), just like a popular community site.

Ehm, I don't think you have to worry about that. They've said themselves that they've got probably a thousand ideas, and they're just waiting for feedback from the community to decide which ones to implement, basically. Other journalists have mentioned that the chance that a user thinks of something that MM themselves haven't already put on that list is fairly small ...

Yep, as eb said you set the trigger point for the change of perspective and then set the parameters for your camera. The obvious use would be when you've got a fast section of your level --> shift the camera to follow the character slightly for a sense of speed.

I'll experiment a little more and let you know what I find.

Yeah well, I am worried for no reasons

Still worried now. It's not so common to have momentum like this. Managing user-generated content and traffic is tricky because consumers are fickle-minded. Their tastes can also change pretty quickly.

If they get bogged down by too many ideas (or one big idea that don't take off, or server problems, or bad PR, ...), it wiil stunt the growth in the early stage.

EDIT:

Can we get some more YouTube flicks of stuff, seeing some of these creations in motion? I'd love to see that Tetris creation working. I also have a big bag of kudos to offer anyone who posts up a vid of all the creation tools and parameters in the Beta create mode!

I must say ive not seen or played anything like LBP in a long long time! Feels so fresh!! The control scheme for me is just about perfect! LBP i think is about to turn into a worldwide phenomenon!

Looking forward to buying the dolls, watching the cartoons and collecting the tokens from my Cornflakes box to send away for the LBP colouring pens and pencils!

This is a new one (haven't played it myself). It's mid-size:

Could use more tricks but it's a great start IMHO.

They've even tracked the Tetris theme from a piano sample! This shows the scope of puzzles could be pretty incredible. Very impressive stuff. And the camera additions...there's more here then the last previews and interviews suggested.

I've made a level with a Sledge Race...don't know if I published it...I just hit Save.

The other level I made was just me messing around and it's broken...but this Snowy one is pretty cool. It's short at the mo and I intend to extend it much more, but I put in a finish so at least it's playable for now.

Might mess around with the camera a bit more...but I did get it to take a screenshot of the madness :D
