I think it's good that Sony has a lot of faith in LittleBigPlanet. Hopefully it get a big marketing campaign to reach as many people as possible. We may have seen, perhaps, too much of it, but the general public hasn't. Too many good games already had poor sales because Sony doesn't push them enough.

Oh, I agree with the marketing sentiments. Sony can't oversell this product. They need to reach people. The problem I have is Sony reporting to the gaming press, of no influence at all to the general masses, that they're going to make a big thing of LBP. Just go make a big thing of it already, instead of telling us you're going to! ;)

As for people having fun, it's amazing watching all these YouTube vids and seeing photos, people are always laughing and smiling over just the most basic mechanics. It's a game with more feel-good factor than even LocoRoco!

I tend to disagree with that statement. The more coverage Sony gives by saying "LBP is the next big thing" - the more people will believe it. The more conviction Sony puts behind it, the more the press believe it. Everyone wants to hear Sony doing this - and this is all set up to get good press, good exposure, and huge sales.

Sony should look at Micrsoft for marketing guidance ! They can even sell horseshit with pomp and flair ;) ! Put $10 million in marketing and you might sell 3million or something  !

yes MS do the marketing right, but they spend far far more than $10million marketing the big games, I wouldnt be surprised if gears of war1, halo3 had 100+million spent on them with marketing. ie the development costs are only a pittance.

Im not to sure about this game being a hit though, I think it'll be one where the ppl will either love it or hate it. personally Im not a fan of platformers so I'll most likely be in the later category.
One thing they are blessed with though, sackboy etc are far more identifiable than krakos, master chief, snake, gears of war guy etc.
If this game does turn into a hit, the sack creatures could be up there with mario, zelda, sonic, etc as game franchise icons.

Hello all, moderately long-time lurker here. Came across this cracking info in a preview off Gamepro:
-Enemy A.I. is driven by customizable brains. Developers who want to attach artificial intelligence to the threats, bosses, and enemies they create do so through the use of brains. These brains govern A.I. logic, and can be placed on any object in the game. LBP designers can then designate the behavior of these brain-powered creations by specifying speed of movement, levels of aggressiveness and other behaviors, such as following/avoiding, as well as the perception radius - the range at which the creature or object will notice players' presence. There's a lot of depth here. Players will kill or destroy an A.I. opponent in classic platform game fashion - by jumping on its brain.

This was always something very high on my 'wanted' list for this game and I thought they'd pretty much canned NPC's so you can imagine how excited I was by this! Makes up for the lack of custom images in spades.

Now I am on the hype train, LBP seems to have all the components to become something big, problem is how accessible will it be? I know I will not be able to make anything decent with it, but it wont stop me from trying and being bummed by that I am totally useless with it. :)

Yeah, there are six AI types apparently.

I'm wondering if you can put the AI brain out of reach of the player, to create enemy types that you can't kill ... could be useful for creating interesting contraptions.

I woud say yes, on the grounds everything is just an object to be combined however you want with other objects. If the spawn points, begin and end gates, etc. can all be attached onto objects, there's no reason to think AI units can[t be attached to contraptions and off-screen devices.

What might be more interesting is instead of having it invincible is use Shifty's spawn points so you go inside the monster's/contraption's head and then from inside there you kill it.

So the scenerio would go, battle the monster, reach a point or collect an item, point/item is a spawn point that warps you inside monster's head where brain is, destroy brain, monster's head explodes which throws you out and you proceed along your way.

Another option might be instead of destroying the brain you take control of it to which you crash the monster/have it jump of a cliff/etc...

Lol, now you two have got me thinking here of invincible foes (or more apt, what if he just won't die!!) and how to kill a brain (how about, ask it a question!) and another level just dawned on me...........Sacky Python and The Holy Grail!!!!

I have got to start writing these down.

I was just thinking of some of the platform games I liked in the past. When I thought most of the platform games had shoot em up or beat em up elements.

For example Shinobi, Turricane etc. In fact thining of the 3 layers you had you could even concevably think in terms of limited double dragon, golden axe type of things.

I realise this is pretty far outside the current remit. However DLC or maybe a follow up LittleBigBeater with sackboys vs hordes of ninjas, punks, aliens shoudn't be to difficult with the tech they are showing. And it would be great to be able to have diffrent Sackboys as shinobi etc. It would also be great to be able to create these types of games.

Anyone think this idea would be worth persuing if LBP takes off big style as a sequal?

LBP is one of the few games I am looking for that releases this year for my PS3. I picked up the MGS4 pack shortly after release, but haven't played it for more than a couple of hours. This will make my 3rd game for PS3 along with MGS4 and Motorstorm. I've also been playing a borrowed Resistance, but for some reason I'm not really hyped for Resistance 2...yet.

I'm hoping to find other games to add to my meager collection (any suggestions) and hopefully utilize it for more than just a Blu-Ray player.

I plan on either buying or borrowing a used Heavenly Sword soon as well.

Uncharted has great replay value. Beating it will unlock the highest difficulty level. The medal system is now tied to the trophies. But the medal points you can earn to unlock things are more worth it IMO. These unlock making of videos, extra character skins, slowmotion or speed up modes, mirror mode, weapon select, and a few other thing's I cant think of right now. All in all, it's well worth replaying the game for.

I think we shouldn't take this to far off topic though.
