I was thinking of a Shakespeare take the moment LBP was unleashed. It'd really need in game custom cameras though, so you could shoot creatively and not be constrained to all characters on the screen at once. Media Molecule never responded to my request. :(

Does it show all characters while playing online though?
If not, one or two local characters can control the camera position or zoom.

AFAIK, yes. this is quite an assumption on my part, but a logical one. As part of the coop aspect, you need to see the people you are playing with. Even if cameras are local, you couldn't position a camera to view two players without you in the frame (could actually hide behind scenery though...). Really if virtual acting was a goal, a free-roaming camera ought to be added. Simpler works will be possible, but it would have been nice to have head close-ups and dramatic handycam shots!

In most real theatre acting, all players are on a stage, no close-ups. Hiding behind scenery when they're not 'on' could be done really naturally in that context. Also, if you want to do Shakespeare, all female roles should be male sockpuppets dressed as women. ;)

This is an amazing idea. Gawd, we could act out anything...man. This is amazing! My mind is starting to go crazy with possibilities...it's unraveling like a canvas and some angry kittens

If you want to do theatre, sure. But c'mon man, we're living in the world of HD TV and movies! Aren't you just dying to try some J. J. Abrahms shaky-cam action shots with sackboys?! Parodies of famous movie moments, like Lego has done with SW and next Indiana Jones, could be truly awesome in LBP - build up the scenery, dress up your sackboy (a Darth Vader box helmet roughly coloured in on head ;)) and take it away! Missed opportunity IMO.

Although with the Hide-Behind Scenery option, it's not all lost. Every scene will be a flat, central view of full-figure actors, but you can at least mix up how many characters are on. And besides, you'd always need to edit the film anyhow, so characters could be chopped and changed. Unless someone can find a way to change their sackboy's costume and repaint their makeup behind the scenes!

I'm actually just teasing you, of course I understood what you wanted the first time.

By the way, I'm thinking that you could fake a close-up - assuming that the camera zooms in as the characters get closer, you should get them all together behind something at the point where you want the close-up. Then you walk the one sackboy on stage towards this point, and the camera should pan in ...

My friend and I have been lost in Phun for a while, just creating completely random stuff. ^_^ What an amazing sandbox.

The blog's posted up an interview with the sound designer as what's supposed to be an ongoing feature. Not much worth for the game, but an interesting clip in the background of a very motive level, and mention of sound being easily incorporable. At 1:50 there's an out-of-focus clip, which in this state you wouldn't know wasn't a real life model/stop-frame animation!

Ha ha ! He has Toro as his office toy. It's my PSN avatar. Where did he get it ? Sony, please release Mainichi Issyo in US. T_T

I just can't get enough...of that World of Stuff!

I'm disgusted to see this thread drop off the front page! Here are a couple of new vids that show how the game is really progressing in content and polish.

That skateboard-dragon vid was awesome...
Noticed some clipping on the zebra head and the hairdo. Hopefully it gets fixed :)

I don't think they will. It's the headgear that clips and the gameplay could be affected by headgear collisions, so they may well keep it disabled so your choice of costume doesn't affect the game at all.

The Pop-It interface has received a nice spruce up with better sub-options and layout. This YouTube vid mentions that parameters can be changed in pivot points too, so they've certainly expanded the interface beyond what we've seen to do to enable more than the bare basics. Peter talks of the structure of sharing too - you offer objects only available as prizes from your level, as incentive to attract visitors. The locking of models to a particular level eliminates object piracy.

I'm guessing from the menu and previous vids that sound-clips can be pasted like pics or pivots. The amount of work one could invest here is limitless!

Oooh, gaming logic and event handling! And those material effects are the best in any game ever! Seriously, check out the sack-boy getting burnt up! Or the whiffs of ice. I hope all those who were unsure of this game check out the latest vids to show how much depth is being added. Even if people just want to play puzzling platformers or races, the game side looks as rich as many dedicated platformers. And the graphics are beautiful!
