The Big Forza 2 Thread *

Imo, save the money. Save it until you need to buy a new car for a specific race. If you like porsche's or ferrari's your gonna need one of those anyway, so just buy one ;) IF you like tuning cars to insane limits, go with a Porsche with AWD, as you really need AWD when you start getting 800+ hp.

Or

If your into online, buy and tune up different class cars. You need 1 handling car and 1 accel\top speed car for every car class. Stock cars just wont do it in online career.

I got a 50% discount, so if you want to save another 15% send a message to Ostepop online, and il buy the car you want, and sell it to you for less than you could buy it for.

Revolutionary?

You expect a racing simulator to be revolutionary???

We haven't had any revolutionary racing simulator changes, since the genre went from 2D to 3D. After that it has continously been small upgrades, evolution.

Was GT2 revolutionary? GT3? Certainly not GT4? Or GTHD?? They were all upgrades on the previous title, all part of a evolution. They get a little better physics, and a little better graphics, in every incarnation, but nothing that dramatically changes the way people look at the genre alltogheter.

I'm expecting big things from the next Colin Mcrae game.

I'm fairly easy on which car...everyone seems to decorate those 350Z's, so maybe something a little unusual. Looking through the cars list, a Sagaris would be cool :D Best of Brit..err..Russian

Of course it's up to you. Just make sure you mention the console forum from whence the idea was born somewhere

Sweet, thanks! I'll hit you up.

I won some 911GT3 tuned up car and took it for a test run around the ring. Fast car but quite a handful! I'm sure the AWD ones are much more compliant.

"Official" Beyond 3D Forza 2 Car

Right, i fooled around for about an hour, and created this.

Its not particularly good, the logo is a bit asymetric, but i can't be arsed to do it better, as it would take much more time. Anyways, this is my B3D car.

That is excellent :D It's a damn nice car to put it on as well

Now we need a feature on the front page about it "Beyond3D car hits Ring"

Personally I've never been one for racing sims, and even PGR3 got a bit close to the bone for me. However, despite having a ton of games to get through (I'm addicted to Samuri Warriars at the moment, I picked up Armoured Core 4 and someone gave me Bullet Witch [as bad as it is, I can't have that paltry 10 GS damaging my GS ratio!]) I picked this up to see what its like. I have to say, despite my aversion of sim racing, its drawing me in quite successfully. While the graphics are "meh" (good, fine, but nothing outstanding) the structure seems well done to give the sense of achievement (even without the 360 achievement).

I'm only on my second set of events now, so I'm dreading it when things start getting really fast. So far I've discovered I like front wheel and 4 wheel drive cars, while mid engined rear wheel drive cars just hate me. First car I bought was an Audi TT and I went and spent about 60K of upgrades on it last night - the thing is now rediculously fast in comparison to how it started out!

I agree, playing it at my friend's during the weekend. You could make the same argument against Motorstorm. I dont feel the playing style is particularly dated, more lacking any real sense of advancement. To be fair, its seems the physics have been developed slightly, perhaps the third in the series will be the game that is 'revolutionary'.

Forza 2 is about getting drivers from production to prototype ... in chronological fashion. It is an engaging style of play that, nowadays, seems a bit narrow-minded.

A more compelling game will probably have a more liberal philosophy (think sandbox), where rules have given way to policies; and aims and goals are user-driven. This seems to be the direction a lot of new gen projects are taking. ;)

You know you can shoehorn the motor (and drivetrain) of a different model into your own. I did this with an '82 911, and now the AWD runs like a champ!

I'm doing a full 180 on that 911GT3 I slammed earlier. On every other track besides the ring, it's a beauty to drive. Won some other yellow high HP race car and that kicks ass also. You can just slide that car all over the place if you want or keep it hooked up.

Just as in real life, I've quickly grown a disliking to FWD and AWD cars due to their understeering ways.

In RWD we trust :D

Upto level 21 now and just more and more hooked the longer I play it. This career mode is actually fun and doesn't feel like a chore one bit. You're constant forced to try out new cars and even modify what you depending on the track. Good stuff!

FWD is great though up to a certain HP level. But a lot of people only like driving way beyond that HP level. ;) But if you take, say, an Alfa 159 and put it up against a BMW 3-series, then the 159 will actually do better in the corners and braking. Of course, some of the later BMWs can understeer a rather lot despite being RWD.

FWD does require a different driving style though, and it's one that few care to master. I personally like it a lot.

Heh, different strokes for different folks. I prefer the neutral handling of AWD cars, because with tuning you can push them towards the characteristics of either FWD or RWD cars according to preference. I like my cars to oversteer, but only slightly. It's pretty easy to accomplish this on an AWD platform.
