Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection to be downloadable on PS3

Hello Wii logo!

can i share this game from you? i can paypal you . if only the japan store accept european visa

You're going to want to wait for the English version. Unless you don't care about reading the menus in the game. (The combo and moves lists, the *store where you buy accessories for your characters, etc. *Not real world money of course!)

It looks really nice though. I can't wait to play it with friends over the new year holiday break. The content might be last gen, but at 1080p you can't compare in the same league as a ps2 game.

There is one or two levels that are a bit ugly though. One is the marsh level. It casts some sort of weird blur filter over the whole screen and I kept thinking that my PS3 just dropped down to 720p or that there was something wrong with my TV.

Big Namco fan and you didnt even know this is Tekken5?

Dude why so much drama?

I AM a Namco fan but I haven't played or followed all of their games. The last Tekken I played and owned was on PS1. I thought Tekken5 was the newest Tekken coming to PS3 that is supposed to compete with VF5 also coming to PS3..make sense? I didn't know Namco needed to make a Tekken6 to compete with VF5!

If you look at the thread title, it has a number that looks like this: 5. That's a five. The one after 4 (four) and before 6 (six). More info about the mysteries of 5 here.

Like I said I thought Tekken5 was the newest Tekken meant to compete with VF5 for PS3 so the fact the thread title says 5 doesn't change anything.

Sheesh you guys are like a bunch of rabid monkeys jumping on anyone who makes a simple honest understandable mistake.

We were just making fun of you saying that you're a "big namco fan" but didn't know about Tekken5-6... :D Nothing too serious.

Well it is serious enough for some coward to give me neg rep calling me a troll without leaving a name...um yeh sure I'm a troll because I mistakenly thought Tekken5 was the latest state of the art version.

I would be nice if somebody gave me a postive rep for admitting my honest mistake..hint hint.

Did they give neg rep before you explained your confusion thinking this was a PS3 game rather than last-gen port? If so, I can see why they might class your comment as trolling, and within the freedom for people to award Rep as they choose, even though I think that's a bit heavy handed, I don't see that's wrong of that.

Outside of the arcades, (and if T6 doesn't get an arcade iteration, not even there) the series really don't compete with each other anymore. They've established themselves to the point where their fanbases are pretty much set, and most gamers already know if they like either or both games. And Tekken 5:DR is actually the 7th Tekken game. Tekken Tag Tournament didn't steal a number, and there's enough changes from Tekken 5 to make Tekken 5:DR a worthy play or investment for fans.

This looks HORRIBLE for a Tekken 6 game! I am ashamed to see something so Tekken 6-like seem so much like a Tekken 5! Honestly, what could Namco be thinking to provide such a Tekken 5-like experience with what is obviously labelled Tekken 6!

Ok can we move on from the Tekken5/6/7 incident - and subsequent bickering, useless as it was due to a misunderstanding - and get back on topic?

Diminishing returns!

Using the above shots as comparison, Tekken6 looks to have moved up to a per pixel lighting system while Tekken5 was just using vertex lighting. But the T5 artists were so clever with textures that it makes almost no difference! And I dare say, aesthetically human skin in Tekken5 still looks better.

Besides the texture resolution going up, there wasn't a great deal of improvement so far.

I think they need a vastly better lighting model if they want to pull away from T5 and close the gap with their CGI cut scenes.

I don't think the 2005 E3 video of Tekken actually has a whole lot of common with the real Tekken 6 that will come out some time in the future...

edit: or was it this year when they showed the crappy footage? I can't remember anymore.

It was this year.

2005 we got the now famous render clip that actually looked good and got the fans all excited.

BTW. For some reason my PS2 DS pluged in via an elecom USB adapter does not work with Tekken! It works find in all other games. Anyone else have this problem? I've been postponing buying an additional controller because I can just use PS2 controlers for other players for now. But I might have to pick up a second now.

clicky

The frame rate is typically solid and smooth, though there were a few rare spots where it dropped a handful of frames.

IIRC, the game was suppose to be running @ 60FPS, and one would assume thats a locked 60fps or... its not?

or is GS bs'ing :???:
