Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection to be downloadable on PS3

There's a difference between "play over local wireless" (ad-hoc) and "play over network," though. T:DR only had infrastructure play for ghost downloads. (The main game, that is. I forget if there were minigames that were playable online.)

Yeah. I thought about that after posting. But, still, I think the Namco guys are not quite as against online as the AM2 guys are. I think the main reason this version doesn't have online play is that it's a cheap port... kind of disappointing still.

Sucks that there doesn't seem to be any good up to date fighters that are online playable... sure there's DOA4 (but that's pretty garbage, imo), UMK3 (it's bad too, if not occasionally fun), SF2 (too old and limited to be enjoyable for extended periods of time, really), but they aren't exactly good compared to the big 3. VF, Tekken and Soul Calibre need to get on the online bandwagon. I think fighting games would be one of the few types of games I'd actually enjoy playing online.

So are there any improvements beyond a rendering res increase? The E3 trailer had sharper textures and some new pixel shader effects as well.

There's self-shadowing. I think that's new.

Edit: Also, the E3 06 trailer wasn't for this. That was a joke.

Downloading now from the JP store! This will be my first DLX game.

It's the first time I added money to my "wallet" too. It seems they picked strange increments. The smallest amount of money you can add is 1000yen the next is 3000yen. The game is only 2000yen but there is a 95 yen tax. So I had to pay the Sony wallet system 3000yen to get this first game.

If there was a way to add an arbitrary amount, it was not obvious to me.

Edit: it seems the tax might have been included in the 2000yen cost. Damn!

can i share this game from you? i can paypal you . if only the japan store accept european visa

It's easy to miss. The first Kuma screen is the only one on that page that shows it, though it's more evident in the video itself.
Very naff movie! The camer'as autofocus doesn't lock on, the exposure is terrible...ho hum.

Through and through, it was hard to spot self-shadowing on the whole, although it's very clear on the green Kuma. Does the original PSP version have that much detail, thinking of the countryside fight?

Well, the PSP version isn't the original, and of course sacrifices were made (possibly in blood) to get the System 256 version on there.

Right. The PS2 type arcade. These screenshots are lacking any fancy lighting/self shadowing. I don't think anything beyond a res increase and maybe AA is in this port. I'm not sure how the self-shadowing fits in.

Whats so bad about a cheap PS2/arcade game with enhancements? This is supposed to be the arcade game made available for people to own at a cheap price. Not a next generation ga,e

I cant help it but feel that you didnt even have an idea what this was supposed to be all about thus I doubt you are even a big Namco fan. Big Namco fans (=most likely Tekken5 fans) see nothing wrong in this at all. You didnt know this is Tekken5? A PS2/system256 arcade game? :???:

edit:
Oops, my bad I thought this was Tekken6.

Big Namco fan and you didnt even know this is Tekken5?
