How is less than 50% good when xbox 360 was chastised for the same thing. How is this good when we have no idea which of the 1000 games actually work? I was just looking over at GAF and reading the responses in that thread and I'm really surprised by all the people saying "this is Ok" when they were screaming murder for the 360 doing the same thing.

I'm sure that 1000 compat list will include lots of shitty titles since they will be the easiest to emulate. After all, if you can emulate all the best games that make use of the hardware in the most odd ways first, you will end up with tons of other less impressive titles working.

Unless the process of verifying compatibility is time consuming and consequently expensive? In that scenario, focusing on the more important titles would be sensible. There are over 1000 titles that fall into the ultra low budget shovelware bracket when you consider the difference between titles shipped for Europe against those in America. That is before we consider how many of those conventional ~1,500 titles are in themselves shitty. Harrison, in the intervew, implied that they are focusing on big titles:

It's likely that of the 1000 titles compatible for launch, the majority of them will be titles also released in the US and Japan.

How many Xbox titles are playable on Xbox 360 out of all Xbox titles? Is there any breakup for each region?

As long as the Barbie Horse Adventure for PS2 works, I'll be happy.
And FFXII, and Okami... and GOW2 and DQVII.... and Silent Hill 4, as those are what I haven't yet finished.
However, I'm surprised they dumped the EE this quickly with the EE emulation seemingly being weaker than the EE+GS backwards compatibility. Apparently they decided the emulation at this point is already good enough, which at least gives some hope...

I didn't find any breakup for each region but the oficial list is 297 Xbox games playable in the Xbox 360, this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games includes ~1000 Xbox games but some of them are cancelled/not released.

Does Sony have what it takes to turn the tide of public opinion?
