ME1 didn't have much better conversations really. It is still a lot of mostly "fake choice" dialog. First revision of the KOTOR Lite experience.

The only real differences I remember noticing with ME2 were the stupid mining, the loss of the tank vehicle (essentially replaced with the hovercraft tho), and the ammo clips replacing the overheat mechanism. Some of the personal missions were probably the highlight of the whole game for me. Otherwise it felt the same to me, but more refined and focused maybe. ME3 was more ME2 and I was just sick of the formula by then and I didn't really care about the story / characters anymore.

As an RPG fan, the vast differences between ME1 and ME2 were huge, stark, and not something I could overcome nor forgive. DA2 then sealed the deal and I will no longer ever buy a Bioware game again. The fact that Bioware decided they didn't want to focus on RPGs anymore made them a dead company to me. Yes, the RPG market is smaller than the shooter market, but with the lack of quality RPGs at the time, them abandoning RPGs for the more lucrative Shooter (with ME) and 3rd person action (with DA2) genres was just a slap in the face as a fan of the company since its inception.

ME1 may not have had the same dialog choices as KOTOR or even Jade Empire, but it at least had consequences that build up over the course of the playthrough. ME2 had nothing. Nada. Zip. Ziltch. None of your conversations mattered for anything as once you did their last personal mission, THAT and only that was what determined their attitude and relationship to you.

It's not surprising, however, considering that the founders of the company who were the ones that were passionate about RPGs left the company relatively soon after the sale to EA.

So the follow-up for the Humble Bundle Origin 2 is a bunch of 20 year-old games that everyone probably has already. Meh...

I was hoping for Mass Effect 1. That'd sweeten the deal a lot more for newcomers.

The new Humble Bundle is a good one.

All the Might and Magic games (both the RPG as well as the TBS games). Also has the action Might and Magic games (Dark Messiah). I'm probably going to be picking this up.

FYI, most of those Might & Magic games are on Uplay, not Steam or DRM free.

Edit: You can check the tiny icons under the game covers for the platform.

Base tier: Heroes 2 is DRM free (not Steam, but not Uplay).
BTA tier: Dark Messiah and Clash of Heroes are Steam only. Who knows about the unlocks.
Top tier: Heroes 3 HD (missing the original's random map generator, IIRC from the reviews at GoG) is Steam only.

Of course, if you're buying mainly to donate for Nepal relief, a non-Uplay game a tier is better than nothing. Just remember to adjust the sliders!

Sooooo the steam summer sale has started. Not really a sale though because like 75% of the games I had on my wishlist have been bumped 10 ~ 20YFC in price so even with discounts they are now more expensive than they were yesterday.

Witcher 3: 50 yesterday, 60 now
Wolfenstein new order: 40 yesterday, 50 now
GTA5: 50 yesterday, 75 now
Evil within: 40 yesterday, 60 now.

Fuckers.

That's quite fucked up but I haven't noticed any USD prices changed.

I also haven't noticed any base price difference. Of course sometimes the discount isn't really as good as on daily /midweek/weekend sales, but I already put 2 items on my cart waiting for me to press purchase....

Are you comparing apples to apples? For instance the GTA V sales price includes ingame cash card (dlc per say) hence the higher price than just GTA V without dlc the day before.

You should make certain the other games dont have bundled extras included, even if you dont need or want them.

That's pure fraud, it's actually illegal to do that over here. Japan has weak consumer protection laws?
Not sure never looked into it.

Yes I am. As you can see the base GTA5 game went from 50 yesterday to 60 today. The now cheapest version has the money card but A. I dont care about that and B. its still more expensive.

Witcher is just a plain 10 euro increase. Same for some other games. I know for a fact wolfenstein and evil within were cheaper before the sale.

I've picked up Grow Home and The War Of Mine so far.

When I loaded Grow Home I fully expected to be able to throw it up to 5k DSR immediately without issue on my 970 and 21:9 monitor. Apparently not as it fluctuates between 30 and 60fps vsync. I had to drop DSR down slightly to sustain 60fps. Figured a game that seemed to render solely with huge polygons, gourad shading and some slight post-fx wouldn't have an issue with any resolution.

One thing about indie games, don't expect them to be as well optimized as some AAA titles. Sometimes, it's a miracle their game even works. :)

I just noticed that games Steam didn't mention if I owned a game that's in the gift section. Basically now I like to buy games and put it in the gift instead of library, but when I browse for new games, the a game that I already bought and put into the gift section is showed as in wishlist. Luckily I noticed this as I was about going to purchase a game that I have put in the gift section. They should really put a mark on games that I already have in the gift section (right now I believe they only mark in wishlist, cart, and library).

Gog now have System Shock 2 for 99cents
If you dont own this game you should, read some reviews
the forefather of Deus Ex.
