Ah, that's a shame, guess I'll be skipping those that I don't already have then. Not going to touch Origin...ever.

Its Your choice, but i'll never understand it, because for me Origin is much better game DD service than Steam :), cause i dont need to run it after i downloaded a game [except for bf 3 unfortunately ;\]

NFS:The run keeps want to run Origin as well. Probably a sign of things to come.

Because I knew Steam's servers would be getting hammered with Skyrim and MW3's releases, I installed Skyrim, let it patch, and then immediately put Steam into its offline mode and kept it in that state for weeks. Didn't have a single issue with any of my Steam games.

What does it matter to you if steam sits there in the background or not? Surely you don't have a pressing need for the comparatively paltry amount of RAM it uses.

some people are old school and dont like having unnecessary things running

Same as running Origin in background or any other useless app.

Anyone has a spare discount code for Amazon please?
Would like to get Dead Space 2 and Crysis2. :)

EDIT: Funny that DS2 went on sale on steam too, but the steam version, after discount is $15 while Amazon version after discount is $5 ! Other EA offers are gone but I guess its time to buy Dead Space 2. If someone can give me a spare code I'll get Deus Ex HR too. Pretty please.

Dead Space 2 is available on Steam for 5 USD through the weekend. Dead Space as well. I'm contemplating whether I want to give Dead Space 2 a try as the first was quite disappointing. But I've heard that 2 is much better.

Because of a few factors. The main one being that I want all my downloaded games to be on one service if at all possible (the only exception I make is for Blizzard). I have 3 other games I've purchased online from other online stores. I don't remember what stores and obviously don't remember what name or password I used on them. This was during the early days of DD before Steam became so all encompassing. I think one was from Sony, one from THQ maybe, and one from a Steam competitor.

Basically those games are lost to me as I can't be arsed to try to remember where and from whom I bought them. I have a hard enough time just trying to remember all the gdamn different logins I have for various games on Steam that connect to developer or publisher sites.

So far the only thing I'm missing that I'd like to get is BF3. And I have so many games I've yet to play that I can live without it.

BTW - As someone else mentioned you can put almost all games on Steam into offline mode and not have to even run Steam. And there's even games where you don't even have to do that, they'll happily run without Steam running.

No its not. Atleast not where I am. Its $12.49 for both games and $15 if u buy only one. Its weird , its stupid. I want to buy only one of them and I am not allowed to.
Amazon has DS2 for $5 as a stand alone.

Putting Steam in offline mode isnt solution, because You still need to run a steam client, its the same like in online mode for me, because i dont play outside of home personally.

And writing down that additional 3-4 logins and passwords to services is really hard, i get it :) Even thought You certainly have EA account [if You played any their multiplayer game], so You already have EA store access.

I wont force anyone, its everybody choice to do whatever he/she wants, but i just dont get why not play a game You want or support developer You like, just because You dont want to login into other services.

That page should take you directly to the weekend deal on Dead Space and Dead Space 2. At least if you are in the US and possibly Canada as well. Both of them available standalone. You can save 0.01 USD if you buy them together. :p If it doesn't on the main store page in Steam you just cycle through the 2 weekend offers in the spotlight (Nation Red and Dead Space)

Yes I well know as I've experienced the HORRIBLE online component for DA:O, Crysis 2, and ME. Flawless downloads on launchday through Steam. Only to have things go horribly wrong and buggy as soon as I launched those games and then had to do things through EA's service.

And hearing horror stories about people's experiences with Origin doesn't give me much faith either. Far more horror stories than I've heard about Steam in such a small amount of time with a far smaller user base than Steam.

So color me highly adverse to trusting EA's services more than I have to. :) That's my 2nd of multiple reasons for wanting to avoid Origin at all cost. I'd use just avoiding EA as much as possible as one of my reasons, but considering I'm also going to avoid any stores by the other publishers or even other competitors to Steam (other than the one exception I've already mentioned), that wouldn't be fair. :)

Medal of Honour for $6.99 on Amazon today ! Is its MP still alive ?
Also, was planning to get Crysis 2 from retail. Is Crysis2 MP still alive n kicking ? I hqve plqyed the sp on the ps3 , interested only in MP.

Some people need to get with the times and realize we're no longer havering over 64k base memory.

And I really don't understand how someone can argue that Steam offline is the same thing as online.

will you feel the same if every publisher has their own program/service
I would have to have 40 or 50 programs running. Is that something you would like

Crysis 2 MP is still alive, but sometimes hard to find good server without so called 'hackers'.
Great fun if played with a friend or two :)
