True if that is, total Xbox ownage!!! That is like how many times higher resolution than PS2 can handle! A game that was developed ground up for PS2 gets the boost of its lifetime on Xbox!
Now Halo 2 720p is looking more real. :D

Truely, i have never seen such a difference in hardware power during the PSX-Saturn-N64 days.

If you ask me, SC2 wasn't really doing anything special to begin with. DoA3 is arguably better.

I hope you are talkign about graphics too! :D

If anything, this clearly shows the real power of Xbox, truely 3X or maybe even more, powerful than PS2. MS has delivered a 1/2-a-next generation console in the same generation !

Can't wait to see the Xbox 2 vs the much hyped CELL battle!

Do you remember one SC2 interview in which the producer said he MAXED OUT the PS2 with SC2? Now the Xbox version might be getting, not only better textures and FSAA, but also a super hires boost!

God damn, will you ever stop trolling...

Please point out where the developers say it will have FSAA and 720p. Even then, you should learn to write your posts in a less annoying and inflamatory way. I know you are young kid and all, but try not to show it *that* much...

Dorimaga interview with SC staff

- Link's BGM is "legend of Zelda"
- If have extra time, hope to have different difficulty among 3 versions
- 2 mins pre-rendering movie for opening, ending will be same as AC version
- XBOX verion compatible to 5.1, harddrive, D4 cable, not compatible to XB Live
- numbers of polygons among 3 version are the same, only diff among textures
- "breast shake(?)" will be kept in 3 versions
- Valkyrie and kage???? be the hidden characters this time seems not possible
- "I will buy the game if this character included" it seems that it will include that character
- around 60 staff to do the port

Q: why Heihachi ??
A: Toro or Pappara are not suitable, they cannot fight (laugh)

Q: all 3 verison are also 1 disk, Is it difficult to store the data to GC version ??
A: (If) port to DC, DC version is difficult (laugh)

Worldwide sale: Soul Edge (1.6 million), Soul calibur (1.4 million)

*D4 cable is a type of cable for TV only available in Japan
support 720p (1280x720 progressive scan 16:9)

FSAA will mean better filtering too. Look at the screens, look at how much ckleaner Xbox ones are. :)

Again, where does it say it has FSAA?

Because it would be the first time EVER developers release artificially supersampled Xbox screenshots

Precisely. That is the description of the cable. That cable also outputs 480p.

so it does! and so it does also make special mention of Xbox(only Xbox) using that. ;)
So it could either be 480p for Xbox and 480i for PS2 and GC, or >480p(720p or 1010i) for Xbox and 480p for PS2 and GC.

Either way, Xbox wins!

I'm not sure if the rumors will turn out to be true on this one or not, but the Xbox would easily have enough power left over if Namco seriously wanted to do it. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing Konami build a Silent Hill 3 rev for Xbox and give it a bonus upgrade like that.

Ports to Xbox don't even usually scratch the surface of its capabilities. EA's cross platform benchmarking showed how many more times the Xbox outperformed the PS2, so it's especially unfortunate to see how they only really tried to take advantage of some of that extra power once (when they made the Xbox version of NBA Street in 720p). A few other devs have used some of that extra power, like the 3x res upgrade to 720p for Tony Hawk 4 Xbox, I believe, and Dragon's Lair Xbox 1080i.

The most impressive effort on ports came from SEGA. NBA 2K3 on Xbox, even with its more detailed player/stadium models and better graphics all around, has the 1280x720 res upgrade in that version. What's really good about that one is that it does all that at 60 fps progressive with 5.1 channel decoding in gameplay, all while running voice chat through broadband Xbox Live. Definitely one of the most technically impressive feats so far, especially considering how complex the graphics already are in 2K3. The basketball title on PS2 that many reviewers said had the best visuals was EA's NBA Live 2003, and that one only ran at 30 fps online I've heard at 640x480.

I know what you mean, but I also think the Saturn was truly ahead of its time. Have you ever watched the Shenmue Saturn footage? It completely stomps anything from that era, and it was recently confirmed that...

Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about the unreleased Saturn version? How long had it been worked on, and did it use the experimental Saturn expansion cartridge or the 4meg RAM card?
A: Nearly two years of work was put in the Saturn version. It didn’t use a booster cartridge nor did it use the 4meg RAM card, so yes, the game was programmed for, and the footage seen as an extra on Shenmue II is from the code running on a stock Saturn.

Uh, thanks Lazy, but can you stop with your Sega thing? Sega has been badly own3d in the hardware and software sides lately. :p

I would love to see that in good size and quality, as the last one i saw was like very very compressed and tiny. Based on what i saw though, looks no better than say vagrant story or zelda:MM.

i think that this cable also outputs 480i
The cable got special mention, so it has to do something special. :D

I just checked, D-Terminal cables are the equivalent of Component cables in Japan. :wishes for something special:

yes it does something special. the signal is transported in separated wires for each component, ensuring a crispier picture. so even in 480i mode the picture is much better than composite.

when they made the Xbox version of NBA Street in 720p
Xbox version of NBA Street doesn't exist :\

Besides, I very much doubt we'll see many high profile Xbox games running in 720p considering how much better graphics you can make if you stick to basic 640x480 resolution. SH3 on Xbox in 720p? Who knows, but Splinter Cell had more than enough framerate dips below 30FPS while not even having as complex light/shadow model. Besides, Konami so far hasn't been very hellbent on improving their games for the Xbox.

So it could either be 480p for Xbox and 480i for PS2 and GC, or >480p(720p or 1010i) for Xbox and 480p for PS2 and GC.
To be realistic, most likely scenario is that all three versions will have 480p (arcade version does).

That is exactly what component cable does, though. D4, I think, transports component signal digitally to the TV, where it's decoded. However, it's basically the same thing as the component - only the decoding takes place in the TV instead of the console.

I am certainly sure that 480p is the bare minimum on Xbox. 8) All my current games go that way. ;)
Wait! I think there are a few junkie EA ports that not run at 480p but that is about it.
SC2 HAS to run at 480p at the very lowest level! Special will mean something more! :)

Besides, I very much doubt we'll see many high profile Xbox games running in 720p considering how much better graphics you can make if you stick to basic 640x480 resolution. SH3 on Xbox in 720p? Who knows
Maybe Xbox has untapped powers? ;)

Maybe Xbox has untapped powers?
If they get to tap them, developers would be smarter to use them to make even more impressive looking games, than just bumping up the resolution, which 1% of population can enjoy.

Maybe they bump up resolution and make them even more impressive looking? :p

Halo 2 certainly looks way better than Halo 1 with the bumpmapping! 720p or not? 720p or not?
Then you have those multiplatform ports that without having to redo the games, just do a quick resolution bump. It will still make them stand heads and shoulders above the competition. 8)

AHAHAHAHA, OMFG....

The DOA series is considered one of the worst fighting series out there, except to a very small group of people(those more interested in jiggly boobs than gameplay)

Soul Calibur is the greatest fighting series..EVER, its not arguable
(at least not according to www.gamerankings.com)
SC is not only the greatest fighter, its one of the top ten greatest games of all time.

Greatest fighting game series ever? You've got to be kidding me, while I will argue it's among the top 5, I wouldn't say it's number 1. It's got the makings of a great fighting game series, but with this only being the 3rd iteration of the game I don't see how it's the greatest ever. Now a game series like Street Fighter with its millions of different version absolutely trounces Soul Caliber, have you ever played Street Fighter 3: 3rd Impact? And it is my belief that the the Virtua Fighter series is #1, not just because it has the most innovations of a fighting game series in the last 10 years, but also because of its depth of fighting and unique gameplay. It's the deepest fighting game I've ever played, with a fighting system that's not the easiest to get into, but once you are it's so smoote that you just can't get into any other fighting game the same way.

Chap allready said "equivalent of Component", not composite...
