Sony: Press Conference & Tokyo Game Show

Very interesting, thanks again. Didn't realize the power draw difference was that vast.

That said, a Surface Pro like PC replacement "tablet" could be a consideration for a scaled Liverpool APU I think. Although I'm not sure how challenging it would be to hit the same TDP of the Surface's i5 or if it would even be worth the engineering effort vs a clean start. Not to mention that since battery life is already one of the Pro's biggest trade offs, it may not be the best benchmark for power draw to use in this case. :p

We have see which haswell chipset they go with for the Pro 2.

Tegra 4 is an interesting choice for the Surface 2 (aka surface RT 2)

I think MS picked that SoC because of some old multi-device contract with Nvidia.

More like no one else is willing to sign contracts associated with the trainwreck that is WinRT.

Anand said there's loss of image quality when looking at the Vita 2000's screen at certain angles, so it might carry a TN panel after all.
Oops?

I can't find it so I'm going to ask here, has the price of the new PSV been announced?

Not a good news... thanks anyway :)

PCH-1000 ZA01 19,980円

Ya I don't get it either. On the other hand, with a close comparison we can see that the 1000 series is pretty damn good...

I love the OLED display.

Contrast seems to be so much better in the OLED panel..

The TN suspicion came directly from Anand, BTW.

Bwahaha, that's why I usually buy launch h/w before they cut cost to bring it to the next tier of customers.

Don't worry, I heard they aren't phasing out the 1000s. They will continue their production according to an interview.

But better battery life in the new model, with 1 GB storage built in. So shrunken SOC.

If you haven't bought a Vita by now, why buy, just to get the OLED screen?

What has made the Vita more compelling, because it's bombed so bad?

If they do the rumored bundle with the PS4 for $500, that would be one thing. But to buy it standalone?

I rebought it because there are some interesting games there, and I can game in bed. I think some of these smaller games play better than the big ones. Perhaps because the devs don't shoot for graphics too hard, they have time to polish the gameplay ?

e.g., Killzone Mercenary seems to be the next darling delivering both graphics and gameplay.

I also play games like Plants vs Zombies 2 on my iPad btw.

Confusing !

It has bombed so far because the platform was stupidly neglected by Sony during its first year of existence.

A bunch of great new games coming out within the second part of this year (and first part of the next), along with an excellent cumulative catalog in Plus, lower-priced memory cards (FINALLY!) and mandatory remote play with PS4 seem to be turning the tide for the console.

With a PS+ collection sitting there waiting and PS4 remote play on the way im just about ready to jump in, and ill def be wanting the oled version. Hopefully Vita TV does well enough to make bringing more dedicated games to the platform more attractive also.

Off course it does. Portable Vita was previously mentioned as one of the platforms that will get Gaikai PS3 streaming.
