Those miners could be gamers, too, dual purpose. We have no idea how many of those gpus will be used for gaming or not, in special now the mining craze is slowing down.

If you don't know if components will definitely be used for gaming, don't assume that and present those numbers as related to gaming.

Stick to facts? Amount of gaming GPU's sold. I havent seen any hard facts where i see numbers how many of those arent in use for gaming.

Indeed. But had these been insignificant numbers, Nvidia would not have bothered. Bear in mind that Nvidia targeted 306 Ti , 3070 and 3080 GPUs only. The low-end GPUs - the affordable ones (incl. the 3060) that are more accessible - were unaffected.

Its not all that different from scalpers taking PS5's hostage. At the end, these GPUs used primary for mining will land in gamers hands anyways. Theres a ultra huge demand for these things by both gamers and miners/scalpers, its more production that will be or is the problem.

But as the Steam hardware survey shows, they aren't now which disproves the point you were trying to make. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
 
Not all PC gamers use Steam. We cant use Steam to gauge how many % of the sold RTX gpus are being used for.
Not all, but the vast majority. Unless you have some data from a reputable source that shows that a statistical significant number of PC gamers are not using Steam?
 
I think Steam survey is a small percentage of the 1.5 billion PC gamers worldwide.

Because you think the bilion gamers in China have high end PC maybe the reason Valorant runs on Intel integrated GPU is they want to reach nearly all PC gamers.

Steam hardware is probably above the average gaming PC if we take all market after this is different in US and Western Europe but I would not be surprise 1060 or 1660 are the most common GPU in this country.

This is maybe the reason Avatar doesn't use box Series S as minimum requirement. It works on GPU without raytracing hardware acceleration like use in Stadia and PC without Turing, Ampere and RDNA 2 GPUs. Amazon Luna support raytracing hardware acceleration.

Your assuming things. We safely assume that there are atleast as many PS5 level capable gaming pc's out there as there are PS5s in the hands of gamers.

Yes there are 1.5 billion pc gamers out there. Many more then there are Play Station gamers. Il side with the facts here.
Sales are hard to gauge due to digital sales from different stores etc.

Even with a console cycle, pc sales are spiking.
Jon Peddie, President of JPR says “COVID-19 has created a big spike in sales for PC gaming products in the near term. The total market is approaching $40 billion in 2020. However, we temper our forecasts for possible economic issues in 2021 and beyond. Forecasts are heavily dependent on consumer confidence. Nevertheless, we still predict growth over five years even in the face of a console cycle.

I don't assume things Valorant is made by Riot Games and the studio owner is the chinese company Tencent. Out of South Korea, Asia the biggest market is dominated by China where they have mostly lower end PC.

one just has to look at some of their other claims

Europe has 668 million paying game consumers of a european population of 747million = ~90% of europeans are paying gamers, yeah right :LOL:

People actually pay these guys $3000 to come up with these heavily researched reports, that don't even pass the first smell test

Yay. The 1.5 billion PC gamer spent $25 each, but based on your numbers PC gamers don't buy a lot of games because if 1% of that 1.5bn bought one game, that game would sell 15m copies. PC games would consistently blow multi-platform console game sales out of the water.
 
If only we had financial statements which showed where most money is made and therefore where most games are played?

Maybe it’s too simplistic an idea….but some folk here can continue to think they are spouting ‘facts’…now where’s that ignore button again!?
