RV560/570 Gemini roadmap

L'Inq appear to have what seems like a legit RV570 reference board shot, with the dual Crossfire connectors being consistant with the previous VR-Zone spyshots.
Wow! A digital VRM on a videocard at last. :D
I hope this will materialize in much more efficient power draw.

Break out the PS/PSP tools and figure out that die size. . .

"RV570" / R580 / R520

I think the die isn't RV570. It could be R580 or "R580+"...

Sure looks like R580, doesn't it? Thanks.

Could be someone pulled a page out of the G71 rumor-mill release lead-up. If you recall, we had a shot of a PCB at DailyTech with a different gpu package in it.

If RV570's configuration is similar to X1900 GT then a cut down R580 could have been used to verify the board configuration and power utilisation supply (as they would probably draw similar levels).

I'd be happier with August than say October, so I hope it is true. Hasn't been seen on roadmaps tho, so it seems a bit curious.

ATI new X1650 PRO to launch in August
WE CAN confirm that ATI's X1650 PRO is set to launch on the 23rd of August, just a day before the public part of the upcoming gaming convention in Leipzig, Germany, starts.

ATI's X1950 XTX set to pump up the pixels
We know that they will use GDDR 4 and that will end up seven percent faster from the current X1900 XTX cards.

We hear it will have a new cooler, to make it nice and quiet, for instance.

It's hard to get excited about an upclocked R580 when were are not to far away from R600 and G80 (sept to dec timeframe).

Now, how do I get one of those new coolers by itself? Hmm. I suppose its too much to hope they will sell them indvidually.

Going thru to that OCWB post that started this, the moderately interesting part is that it says there will be a CrossFire edition. That's not surprising, but it confirms they probably didn't do much/anything substantive to R580 for R580+.

Some more info at HKEPC:

RV570 - X1950Pro
12 pipelines - 36 pixelshaderengines
600Mhz core
1400Mhz mem
256-bit memory interface
Internal CrossFire

RV560 - X1650XT
8 pipelines - 24 pixelshaderengines
600Mhz core
1400Mhz mem
128-bit memory interface
Internal CrossFire

RV530XT/RV535XT - X1650Pro
RV530Pro/RV535Pro - X1300XT

So it seems like the X1600Pro is being rebranded to X1300XT.

 No X1700 then.

Actually, it's nice to see that there's only Pro and XT variants here - hopefully it won't be so damned confusing and people will mostly be concerned which cooler and how much memory is on board.

Also glad to see that the full gamut of 4-1-3-2, 8-1-3-1/2 and 12-1-3-1 GPUs is happening. Why did it take so long?

Also notable, an "RV" GPU with a 256-bit bus.

All in all a very nice range of stuff. Shame a lot of it is still months away, missing "back to school".

I think the X1950Pro name for the RV570 is a bit weird and misleading.

RV570 is the replacement of the X1900GT (25Mhz faster core and 200Mhz faster mem) but performs worse than a fully fledged R580 in the X1900XT. Giving it a 1950 name suggests that it's better than a X1900XT, which it defenititely is not. So why not name it X1900Pro instead of X1950Pro?

What about X850Pro, which wasn't better than X800XT?

Looks like a mess right now, hopefully they are able to sort out the nomenclature for the next round of gpus.

I agree it's harder for us to talk about, e.g. trying to remember that X1300XT is really RV535, not RV516...

I'm sure there'll be a nice 3DMk06 graphic of the relative performance of all these. That'll straighten us out :!:
