In May 2024, we shared an RTX Remix Mod for the classic Deus Ex game. Since then, Jongbloed has been working on fixing and improving it. And a couple of days ago, the modder released a new version of the Echelon Renderer. So, let’s take a look at it.
For those unaware, Deus Ex Echelon Renderer is a fixed-function rendering pipeline intended for use with NVidia’s RTX Remix. This renderer is written from scratch to provide render calls in the most compatible way with RTX Remix.
Remix OnCall of Duty 2's multiplayer mode was at one time the most popular online shooter, and fans are still playing to this day on PC. Tadpole3159, a lead artist at an acclaimed British game development studio, aims to bring the game's 19 year-old visuals up to modern standards by leveraging the latest technologies and RTX Remix's toolkit of capabilities.

Single handedly, tadpole3159 is remastering Call of Duty 2's multiplayer mode, beginning with its classic Carentan map. Scenery is already replaced and upgraded, adding additional geometric detail where once flat angled textured surfaces represented debris, and tadpole3159 intends to fill each building's barren rooms with period-accurate furniture and objects, making them appear lived in and more realistic.
Remix OnTo further enhance the level, a full day-night cycle with dynamic lighting has been introduced, enabling night battles illuminated primarily by player combat and the occasional street lamp. Interiors are illuminated by the sun and moon and lamps casting accurate lighting. And textures and surfaces have been remade with additional geometric detail, physically based materials and Parallax Occlusion Mapping, enabling accurate interplay with all light sources, and allowing water bodies to reflect their surroundings.
Yeah, that struck me as somewhat unusual. Couldn't the work he is doing be transferrable to single player gaming?Shame he's not doing the single player
