Rift, Vive, and Virtual Reality

It will push the medium forward as a lot of people will hear about it and want a vr headset but buy something cheaper most of them.

I don't think Apple would expect a device that costs thousands to ship in the same volumes as iPhone or even the Apple Watch. Or even the iPad.

Presumably they have a path to producing a device which starts at around $1000 or less.

Apple doesn't want to loose money on any product and if they can they want to profit off it from the start. That is why their headset will come in at a high price. They know they will still get die hard fans buying it and slowly they will iterate slightly on it and each time bring the price down a little . But I think they will always be at the high end of the market . Think more mac and ipad

and they'll present something impressive that a lot of people will want to try, but due to high price they'll get something more affordable, it'll benefit the market, and i think the Apple headset will still be successful overall.

I'm not sure if that is true. People in the apple ecosystem are in the ecosystem and use it as a status. That is why all the kids who own iphones own ear pods or those other apple head phones and have apple watches. If the kid's can afford apple vr then they will wait until they can.

Surely at that price it's not even targeted at consumers, but rather enterprises.

Also just as a side note, although not a product yet, the Pimax 12k is actually a fair bit higher res that this at 6k per eye.

Interesting micro Oleds used in Apple Vr are produced by Sony. Can imagine if next iteration of psvr3 will exist somwhere in future we will get this tech for around 550$ ;d

I don't have any relationship with meta. So its not that. Headset isn't due out this year
Now i'm really curious lol but I can't think of anything else really. Seeing it's not due this year I'll lock in valves next device (deckard). Are you allowed to say what aspects are making this such a big leap?

Huh, this sounds like it'd be really good in VR.

Unfortunately, just a concept trailer.

No way in hell that I'd even try it though since VR just makes me sick as a dog for hours and hours after even just a 10 minute session in any VR game that involves motion.

SB

That's a shame, i've never had to much issues with VR/motion sickness. I can say I empathize with anyone who suffers it because I was trying to play VR slightly drunk one night and oh boy did I get motion sick, i've never even thought about trying that again. I understand after that why people who suffer it may never want to try it again.

Yeah it's not your average teleport move snap turner comfort vignetted VR experience. But if you really want to play that it might be possible to adapt with time.

that AoT probably will have ridiculous amounts of vignette when moving like that.... hopefully also an option to disable it for those with stomach of titanium.
