Resitance Fall Of Man First Look Article + Gameplay Video

Is that last picture from multiplayer? If so, it looks smoking hot. :D

Enjoy it to the fullest americans and japanese customers, us europeans are either forced to import the damn thing or cry ourselves to sleep while you guys are shooting each other in there. The animation looks awesome.

looks better everytime I see new stuff from it.
I already preordered the game a few days ago (has 11/15/06 pickup date) from ebgames, unfortunately I still can't preorder the ps3. But yeah, cannot wait to sit down with this game. :)

I can only feel your pain when you have the game on your desk and you are staring at the empty space where your PS3 should be, hours...hours go by, still no PS3...days...days....months....at this point you are already crying blood. :(

Insomniac's current engine seems very different in make-up from Crysis. However, if you'd give them the current state of Crysis and ask them to make something exactly like it, I think they might get quite far. Main thing would be to apply the physics they have in there now for moving objects and so on (the spinning fridge or whatever it was was awesome), and use it to animate a jungle. And focus on Crysis-like lighting from the get-go.

But that's just a guess of course.

The game is most impressive in motion. So much post-processing, detail...going on. Just fix the ground textures and work a little bit on AF and I would pick it up on day one !

The aesthetic really leaves me cold. I don't like WW2 games and I've had it with sci-fi.

But everything is looking so GOOD. I wish I could get a better idea of the level layouts. Have you ever played Ratchet and Clank? Those level designs are brilliant. I find myself anticipating this game more and more.

For the record, I had this game pegged as garbage up till maaybe six months ago. I was under the impression that they were making a game they really didn't want to make and that's why it looked so underwhelming. It appears I was wrong.

I cant decide if this game look great or terrible most of the time.

Now if the PS3 was $300 instead of $600, I'd be picking it up! Or trying to anyway, given the inivitable shortages.

The 20Gb debate

The second topic that has been surfacing a lot lately is our support of Blu-ray as a medium. Yes it is true - we are currently using more than 20 gigs. And yes, we do compress our level data. The fact that we store so much on disc is actually not that surprising when you look at the numbers. Consider that even with compression, each of our “levelsâ€￾ (or loaded areas) has more than 300 megs of unique data. And keep in mind that we’re also streaming data during level playthroughs. It doesn't take too much level data before you've gone past what can be stored on a dual-layer DVD. And between single player and multiplayer we have a lot of level data (over 40 different large loaded areas) – yes, more than will fit on a dual layer DVD.

We also include a lot of data in the form of game movies in both HD and PAL formats, high quality audio streams for all supported languages and some of those Insomniac “extrasâ€￾ that our fans have come to expect.

I realize that some people will still be skeptical unless we provide an actual layout of the disc. But for now I wanted to give you some better info.

I was on the fence for a long time regarding the capacity debate. But with every way I could break it down, the result was that DVD9 will just be too small. If it doesn't seem obvious now, it will in two years time.

Nice link Badboy.

Naughty Dog, and Insomniac have always been two of my favorite companies. They really strive for quality in everything they do.

It'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about the game next time. I wonder when that will be...
