Resistance: Fall Of Man doesn't look shiny, that's why it doesn't look awesome ;)
They should at least make the helmets of the soldiers chrome and perhaps the aliens more bumpy and slimey with colourful glowing armour, it'd look much more awesome then!

The game does lack some colourfullness, but that's intended. In some interview they said it'd have some "standout" colourful graphics, like the effect of the red dressed girl in the movie Shindler's List, where in otherwise monochromatic film there was that one incident of colour and it made a good effect.

In my opinion it looks very good and athmospheric. Not in-your-face AMAZING! because of over the top effects and reliance of that shiney-shine to impress.

Anyway, the game is set in war torn England (or is it?), how much colour and neon glitz can one expect until it starts to look like an Epic game ;)

..The monster design in Resistance is leaving alot of people unimpressed and rightfully so. The more I look at that main monster, the more I see that insomniac DNA in the design. ..The chimera footsoldier that we have seen the most of is boring. I can only hope that Insomniac can get to doing what they do and impart them with some real character via writing, voice, and scripts. ..

I think the main enemy looks somewhat out of place with that gun in its hand. You keep wondering what's the use of his big mouth then.. the animation makes up for it. It's not that I really mind because I have never seen a FPS with great looking main enemies..

On the other hand I think the bigger enemies do look great. We haven't seen the big spider and it's also supposed to look really impressive.

Not too bad, except that to a casual observer, it looks like a weak and very sick boy from far. He seems to die easily too (have to play the real game to find out).

Yea... the first time I saw the regular Chimera, I thought something will come out from his mouth. Do they bite in the game ? Or is their mouth stucked in an opened position forever ?

if you look at it like that, every alien looks out of place in a WWII environment ...
this is a game afterall

Yes and no. I checked out the CoD3 trailer. Atmosphere-wise, there are indeed similarities. e.g., The chaotic war zone, the struggle between the German soldier and the protagonist... This is good because I like a noisy and realistic warzone. But I think graphic and gameworld wise FoM is superior.

* The environment looks more refined in FoM (higher-res ?). I remember FoM is more persistent ? As in dead bodies will be around.

* CoD3 also have popins as you go near (There is a scene where the hole in the wall suddenly appear when you go near it). I didn't notice this in FoM clips even when the distance is relatively far.

* Objects in FoM seems more interactable (e.g., Tables, chairs, ...). In CoD3, they seem to be fixed or scripted as usual.

* Close up enemies (The German soldier vs the biting alien)... FoM looks more detailed.

* Areas in CoD3 still looks claustrophobic (corridor crawl-like) compared to one of the FoM levels where the aliens are higher up and look down into a massive lower-level area. Does CoD3 has huge areas like this (as reported by IGN folks).

* NPC soldiers in FoM is more varied and more detailed (They carry different equipments). CoD3 solders do not carry anything except for their gun. They really look the same.

IMHO, to say that CoD3 is comparable to FoM is like Halo 2 is comparable to GoW.

Hmm. Just looked up some COD3 screens and applied a little scrutiny.

It's comparable to Resistance and Gears. But it doesn't stand the comparison very well. Seems to have just a little less of everything. Add in that it lacks the attention to detail the heavy hitters have and it actually starts to look a little ragged. Not primitave. No. But Gears and Resistance are clearly a cut above.

And relating the conversation, they are more comparable to each other than COD3. COD3, to and extent, doesn't compare.

That's the point. I don't believe in both assertions... look at the premise first:
to say that CoD3 is comparable to FoM

I think the point is that if you feel the disparity between CoD3 and FoM = Halo 2 and GoW, you're wearing rose colored glasses...

Sure... find another alien title that you feel is similar to GoW but inferior and/or dated :)
I pointed out Halo 2 because it has popins too.

EDIT: Actually it might be cleaner if I say if CoD3 is extremely comparable to FoM, then it's extremely comparable to GoW.
