Resident Evil 5

The piracy scene on X360 seems really bad......I just did a search for RE 5 on mininova and got more than 20 torrents for the X360 version of the game. I wonder what will happen eventually, coz we are already seeing devs shifting away from the PC due to piracy  ! and now X360 is getting a dose of piracy too.

Piracy is something that will always be there, people will always find a way to hack a machine to little pieces and find a way to pirate games. Xbox360 isn't the only machine that has piracy, and it definately won't be the last.

As for RE5, I guess I'll give it a go, my girlfriend is so scared of these games so it should be a blast to play co-op with her. :D

In a way RROD has actually helped with keeping a lid on piracy. If people wernt so afraid of voiding thier warranty id bet piracy would be as rampant as it is on PSP!

Been playing the PS3 version. Up to chapter 3 now.

Once you get the hang of the controls it gets pretty awesome. I'm using control type D.

Sounds good! Let us know if/when you unlock any Home items!

So free games won't cover the $199 cost of a new Jasper? Search 360 on Craig's list in the Bay Area and 90% of the listings are for backup disk. That being said, it's still a small group of folks.

A 'pre-release' of the Resident Evil 5 gamespace is available on the EU Home now (will apparently be updated when the game releases properly next week?)

EDIT: wow the gamespace is really pretty! Really detailed graphics and textures and some dust effects as well. It also contains two things that are only accessible to people who have played the actual game and/or have the disc in the drive; one is some kind of RE library, and the other is some kind of arcade game.

So, does the Sunlight actually become part of or cause any horror? They have been saying that ever since the CG trailer of RE5 that Sunlight will be a part of horror in RE5.
From the demo, it wasn't, and the game doesn't seem to have HDR, which would be essential for such an effect of eyes adjusting to darkness or so.

Does the game have any such mechanic? or was it just something they thought but didn't incorporate?

I dont doubt that there is already a huge amount of people pirating 360 games without worying about thier hardware failing, but i do believe thier would be a lot more had it not been for RROD.

Lucky you. Does the game improves upon the demo in any ways especially the textures and framerate? I recall the PS3 demo looked quite blurry compared with 360's.

The textures are the same on both demo, little blurring when QAA is activeted but is a different story and he notice only with component cable. I hear the fps for a lot it seems the same about the demo, but not awful or huge dips however. The 360 it seems also a little bit more details (more volumes smokes effect and shadows here and there) and surely smoother. But it's very hard to notice in motion. However for the fanboy who want all costs best version buy 360 version and rejoyce when you see these in the shots comparison

Looks like I'm gonna have to check out some proper 720p shot comparison of the final versions. I would get the 360's if it's very noticeably better, other wise I'll save the trouble of risking more RROD and snatch the triple version.

IMHO the differences in the shots are ridicolous. Fps maybe for someone could be a problem but it's just a question of personal perception. ps3 has vsync ever activeted and it costs dips. Probably capcom prefers dips to tearing or tearing will be massive on ps3 without vsync than 360, where it's just a little.

I'd get it for the platform where you have the most friends for co-op play.

I'm not seeing any frame rate issues on the PS3 version. I've played up to chapter 5 now.

Personal perception. For someone it's hard to notice, to the others annoying , the dips aren't huge but there are on ps3 while 360 is steady smoother, IGN review said the same. However are both equally good but for 'hardcore' gamers ps3 fps could be surely a 'problem'.

IGN Resident Evil 5 final build comparison 360-PS3Posted from IGN Head to Head:
The PS3 takes a hit in the framerate department, with noticeable dips into the low 20's in some especially hectic scenes. It's also worth noting the PS3 version appears slightly more aliased than the 360 version. You won't see this without looking closely because environments generally have so much polygonal detail that straight lines never stand out.

Still, you'll notice a slight jagginess on gun models and some simpler environmental objects in the PS3 version. The PS3 version requires a hefty 4.8GB installation that took me upwards of fifteen minutes. Once the game is running, the PS3 version loaded into levels just a second or two more quickly than the 360.

However I don't think ps3 version dips steady on 20 fps, probably has 25 - 26 average , but my perception could be wrong. Killzone 2 dips are really 'worsen' to my eyes.

Well I beat the game now. I still never saw any frame rate issues.

Usually I am pretty sensitive to this kind of thing. In both Prince of Persia and Dead Space PS3 I was annoyed by occasional frame drops and frame tearing. I was never once annoyed by RE5. If it does drop it is extremely minor. And it is vlocked so no tearing.

The only thing I can think of is maybe this reviewer turned up the aiming speed to high or very high. Making the turning faster might have made the frame rate drops slightly more noticeable to him. I had it on the default setting.

I thought the cut scenes were all prerendered because they looked so good and never hitched in frame rate. But now I am playing through it a second time with alternate costumes. And the alternate costumes properly show up in the cut scenes.

Just wondering, what is the play time like? 5-8hrs? 9-12hrs?

A lot of people say the game is far too shorter than last one, but I don't know, people say different things which I am all confused about.

Are you sure? All the reviews said that and in the demo honestly dips there are. Do you notice any differences in the fps between demo and final game in the same levels?
