Red Dead Redemption

I just got there too....glad that fool had to leave.

The thing which pisses me off (well...kinda) is the various level of Dead Eye mechanics, it was PERFECT in level 1 (which was the hardest to master btw), level 2 is just a scrawny auto aim & level 3 is the same auto aim only difference being now you have to tag each target with RB. Meh ! I'd rather prefer the mechanics of level 1 where I actually had to aim & shoot in slow mo.

It's one of the best you can get, but it's got one life. The deed allows you to respawn the horse.

Nice!

I am not sure thats true. I fell off a cliff and survived but my horse died. I immediately jump another cliff and died and spawned back in town with my restored horse hitched by my safe house. When you die the game doesn't revert to a previous safe but I still have my horse.

anytime a horse you own (one you hitch to a post or have the deed to) dies, there is a cool down period and you get a replacement -not always the same horse.

If you whistle after your horse dies it will not come for a while but eventually a new one will appear.

If you own the deed and call one from the menu, it will also come after the cool down period but it will be that exact breed. Otherwise you will get one of any of the breeds that you have previously broken, appear at random.

I'm about the head into Mexico in the main story. Where as GTA4 was a drag, I'm really digging the SP in this. It's a lot of fun to play through. I won't be going for 100% completion or anything but looking forward to the rest of the game. I do hope the game doesn't pull a GTA4 on me where the game peaked half way at the Bank Heist level.

I'm going to put the game on hold though. Going to do an Alan Wake run through.

Do not like the Mexico part so much traveling its not funny anymore.

Mexico is boring (in RDR)

Hope it becomes better always start mission in the west side and go all the way to the east and i have to travel all the way back to start a new one.

The train mission was cool hope too see a long a very long train mission fighting on the roof
;)

I'm over 50 hours into the game and am still only 17% complete and still have only done 7 maybe 8? story missions.

so much to do and enjoy in this living breathing world.

That's...weird.
I don't think there is much to do beside few minigames to clock 50 hours & still be at 7-8 story missions.

you are right I just checked again and I have completed 64 hours (although it may count time paused), 19 missions 28.5% completion but am still in the New Austin and have several missions left. I have only fast traveled a few times and ride everywhere.

I have done several stranger missions, hunting, engaged in lots of random events, lots of travel and admiring the views and vistas, tracking down outfit scraps, hunting and breaking horses, kicking chickens, hunting, putting my mask on and getting into trouble, mini-games, tracking down wanted posters, oh and did I mention hunting? :p I have also bought deeds to 11 horses. keeps me pretty busy... not to mention 10 or more hours in MP and Free Roam

I played for like an hour last night and already have been involved in a shoot out, got bitten by a rattle snake, skinned an armadillo (never in any game would I have imagined that!), accidentally shot one of the girls in a saloon (should read the instructions first), and had a punch up that ended in a knife fight...

I'm liking it so far!!

hmmmn. Is Mexico the final destination or a short hop? How much time will I be spending there?

I'm not completely sure because I did a lot of side questing, but I think you spend as much time in Mexico as you did before that. You go back after your done in Mexico, but I don't know if you'll ever return to Mexico because I haven't beaten the game yet.

Its honestly getting boring now....Mexico isn't the best place to look at, nor is it the best place to do free roam.
And all I hear in each mission is serve the country, viva mexico ! (I'm pretty sure Marston stresses in each cutscene that "I have my own problems, have a family to take care of" to which the characters would reply with something totally off the mark...like "Mexico is my mother" or "I lost my father but I'm serving Mexico" )

It hurts to see a game tease you off for hours just because you want to find two men. (infact just one) For a big outlaw such as himself, Javier Escuela is a pretty anonymous guy.

in MP, I'm playing Hardcore now and there are no Dead Eye drops like there are in normal mode... you earn dead eye by making kils and to me although I could do without it, it's actually a pretty balanced game, so far... i'm liking the HC (at least in open maps... getting creamed in the close quarters games :p

skinned an armadillo (never in any game would I have imagined that!)

You should play with real armadillos. While working as a surveyor in my previous profession, I used to get a real kick of chasing them down trying to spray their shell with a can of florescent orange marking paint. Man, they're visible from about a 1/2 mile away! :) Plus, they're not real bright either. Had one try running into a hole & got stuck. He thought that since he couldn't see me, that I couldn't see him. LOL

Anyway, the more I see(video & screenshots are amazing) & hear about this game the more I want to play it. Got to wait a little while longer before I can save up to get it. :(
