Red Dead Redemption

Can anyone tell me duelling works in this piece of shit of a game? It has this stupid habit of explaining how it's done during the duel, with your opponent having killed you before it's done explaining. And no matter if you've placed the marker right on your opponents head and repeatedly putted the trigger, he somehow kills you first.

push down and then up on the right stick to draw. As the aimer moves over the target, press the shoot button and you'll place a marker on that part of the body. There is a meter on the right side of the screen. Each marker pushes the meter up. When the meter is full, you'll fire. At least, that's how it seemed to work in the one and only duel I'd done.

Thanks, that seems to have worked. And placing the marker on vital body parts fills the meter up faster.

Anyway, that was the last bad guy to beat the game I just killed.
The ending is kind of lame, though I have the feeling I'm missing something because I didn't play the first game.

Also you can't draw too early or the mechanism will change to the standard deadeye mech and you might get a bounty for cheating if you end up killing the guy.

Also, I think you get honor if you shoot the gun out of his hand and hat off his head without killing him.

Oh, cool. I'm going to try the gun, hat thing. Is there a way to force fire without placing enough markers to fill up the meter? Like, can I put a marker on the gun and hat and then force it to fire if the meter is only 1/3 of the way or something?

Those can't be bugs, the donkey lady actually hold you like someone would if they were carrying someone on their back. They must be devs messing around and Rock* deciding to leave those characters in the game.

Why can't they be bugs? Whats to say that there isn't a separate asset and motion capture database (to better allow re-use)? It seems an easy leap to imagine a pointer to the horse model getting corrupted and instead pointing at some other one.

An obvious example would be console commands for classic shooters where you could instantly change geometry without changing behaviour. This seems like something similar.

Cheers

Definitely buggy for such a long developed game. There are times where you just can't seem to invoke any kind of aiming when in cover behind something, no matter how centered or close the target is to you. Then you detach yourself from the cover, reattach and it works.

Can't seem to win at cards to save my life. Never get anything remotely close to a decent hand. Is it possible to win at cards before you go to wherever it is and get the gambler's outfit?

I don't play cards much but I have read of people spending most of their time with the game time doing nothing but playing card so it must be possible to win.

BTW, one suit allows you to cheat at cards, another allows you to get into High Stakes games.

Oh, I guess the suit I got the ability to go find is the one that allows you to cheat then. Although it's in an era that's not on my map, so I guess I can't really go get it.

I didn't know if wearing the outfit changed the odds of winning or altered the game mechanics somehow.

I guess I need to find away to get more money so I can spend more time gambling.

Yeah, I don't have the lasso yet. I just read that it's one of Bonnie's missions, so I guess I'll go do that when I head home.

Hey.. question on the different aiming types.. I started right at Expert because of the bitchfest that was on here about multiplayer and how the other options ruin the game with auto-aim, so I haven't played casual or normal.

Can somebody break them down for me? And, from what I've been reading about Casual, I don't understand why anybody would need to use dead-eye if they have an auto-aim on full time in casual??

Oh, also, on dead-eye... is there a meter some place that I'm missing? Both when using it (I never know how long I've got until it runs out) and also a meter for how long I need to wait to use it again? I just found the chewing tobacco in the store that 'resets' the meter. That's the first I ever heard of a meter?

I use dead eye to survey the area when I walk into a region where I'm being shot at from all directions. So dead eye lets me take some time to see who is hiding where, then I blast them after that.

the meter is that little red bar to the right of the map. ( I thought it was my health for a while but health is not placed on a meter but by visual cues (screen darkening)

Like the single player game, there are three targeting modes available to choose from: Casual, Normal and Expert. Casual is full lock (stays on target as it moves), Normal snaps-to-target but does not lock on, and Expert has no assist. You can configure your own personal targeting to suit your preferences in any game by using the multiplayer playlists in the menu.

For Competitive games, there are Casual playlists for all game types that are exclusively Casual targeting mode, or that allow players to mix it up and play against each other across a variety of the three targeting types.

There are also playlists for Gang Matches and Free For All games which allow players to use Normal or Expert targeting together (but not Casual).

For advanced players that prefer to strictly play against other free-aimers, Hardcore and Veteran playlists that exclusively support Expert targeting can be used for all Gang Matches and Free For All Games.

It’s also worth noting that honing your multiplayer skills with the more advanced Normal and Expert targeting styles will reward you with bonus XP to level up faster than those using Casual.

4.

it's in the first area... look on the outfit screen, scroll to it and it has a list of collections to complete to acquire the outfit. If you hit X (360) it will place a purple spot on your map identifying an area where that piece can be found.

here is a great source for all hings Red Dead.
