Well it was said before that the R590 will be a R580 with GDDR4 .. so the question above is a logical question. Will we see this beast before the R600 enters the fray?

the R520 and 580 already support GDDR4 I think, so if we see a X1900 XXTTXTX with GDDR4 it will still be a R580.

R590 is supposed to be a tweaked R580 @ 80nm correct ?

How about a X1900 "Platinum edition"? Any word/expectation of that to counter 7900?
Seems I thought I read the voltage on the X1900 was low, plus the memory clocks aren't aggressive, so it would seem very possible, however ATI does not seem to be on the ball or aggressive much lately.

My understanding is the XTX is the replacement for the PE. They went with a name change due to many people's poor impression of the PE being unavailable to purchase.
Regarding the R590, I think you'll see it shortly after the G80 comes out around June. That will be ATI's only chance to answer the G80 until late in the year when they bring out the R600. It will likely also be the last DX9 part, right?
