Questions about Playstation Network

Sony stated that ps3 network is going to be an open network, devs can make their own decision whether or not their game will be hosted by sony's server. Now, i wonder what could sony do to the game data if they hosts a third-party game, will they have the same right as MS under xbox live structure?

Can anyone educate me, any help would be really appreciated.

ah.......... Sorry for my poor english.........

What are those rights exactly?

I think the OP is referring to the fact that MS pretty much owns all the data on the Live servers and can for the most part do with it as they like.

To answer the OP, yes. For the most part, any data that goes through your server which is not protected by DRM or copywrite is pretty much yours. Obviously, it's normal to have contracts which define limits (see privacy policies for pretty much anywhere that you give out information online), but outside of those limits, you own it.

MS would have full access and usage to customer information and It's obviously that Sony ain't capable of gathering those informaton especially when devs get games running on their own server. 'Cause it's an open network. But if data goes through sony's server, Is it possible for them to obtain those information and use it to accomplish their own purpose?

I guess i can safely assume Sony can do exactly everything MS could do if data goes through Sony's server, rite?
