Quantum Break [XO] (by Remedy) *large images*

Pretty solid 30fps there... Hope that black crush isn't intentional. Wonder if they can fix the temporal AA artefacts on Jack too.

Yeah, the black crush is a bit much in this video. It wasn't so in the other vids, so I hope its something to do with the encoding.

Brace yourselves..the full Gamescom demo is now out and looks pretty good...16mins long... the last 5mins...wooo

Game looks great! Looking so forward to it. Loved Alan Wake and can't wait to play Remedy's new game. I wonder if the story telling in QB is as cool as in AW. Graphics and effects are insane! I don't think that the animations look bad at all?!? Cutscene to gameplay transition is a bit rough as the camera position does not align at the moment when switching - easy to fix imo. Gameplay looks solid as well, together with the nice graphics and crazy effects surely entertaining. I also don't mind the cutscene/gameplay interrupts. Seems that QB is X1's The Order :)

That is why I always claim that exclusives are fundamental for a console. It doesn't matter that the PS4 is much stronger than the X1...if you want to play QB, go buy a Xbox One! Otherwise just sit there and be jealous

Looks good but also REALLY soft to my eye.
It's very cinematic. ;) There's lots of artistic blur in effect, so higher resolutions are probably lower priority. They've also spread the love around lots of IQ features, so shadows are high quality and AF is turned on. Other games with higher resolution and sharper pixels can exhibit more obvious shortcomings in specific areas, which can be fairly breaking of the immersion. So I'm al in favour of the more balanced approach even if if loses a point or two for resolution.

The game looks very good. Very much a sci-fi Uncharted with its mix of shooting and jumping. The premise is ideal for mixing in gameplay into a 'realistic' scenario.

There goes my 1080p/60fps (or even 4K/30fps) dreams, with über AA sampling. :(

Well, XB1 users have a good looking game on their hands.

No need to throw your hopes of a PC version out the window that fast. MS also owns the IP to upcoming games like Ori and the Blind Forest and that's coming out for PC, Xbox 360, and XB1. It's just like Kevin Garnett once said, "anything is possible!" :p

Though with the way Remedy will be pushing a television series into this game like they did with Alan Wake, MS might just keep this a permanent XB1 exclusive since it fits their vision with TV and all.

It might take a year or so but I wouldn't be too surprised to see QB released for the PC.

It's not only more revenue for relatively little cost but it also brings the game back into the spotlight. If it sells well on X1 and they have a sequel in development then a PC release can be a great way of getting people hyped for more.

The more people that get to enjoy Remedy games the better as far as I'm concerned. I want them to have lots of monies to make more games with!

Temporal anti-aliasing is really noticeable [blurring edges similar like the one from Crysis 2].

edit-fixed :)

You mean temporal antialiasing, there's not major aliasing and above all shimmering in the video. It looks a bit soft but the stability of the image is way more importat to me and this game on TV will looks great from an IQ point of view.

I have to repeat myself but the VFX in this game are unreal, i'd really like to see a behind the scenes because i've never saw something like that.

I hope their level designers get a huge hug and a raise. That platforming sequence is one of the craziest designs I've seen in a game, if not the craziest. It's really neat to see so much of the level moving and deforming. I hope that becomes this gen. Last gen, for the most part, it was just the odd explosion that would block a door or knock down a bridge. It would be interesting to have more games where the levels are constantly moving and reconfiguring, especially in sci-fi games.

I was thinking that too. Must have been a bit crazy to design the level, insane amount of effort to execute it all. Although I suppose one upside is a level that can double back on itself reusing assets but providing a novel experience, so perhaps the workload balances out somewhat?

Agreed
Wow. Really blown away here by the level design

STANDING-UP APLAUSE FROM MILK HERE.

I'm officially stoked for this now. Remedy deserves high praise for managing to execute such an ambitious design at this quality level. Both from physics sim, level design, rendering tech and amazing geometry warping and particle flying sfx.
I love these playable tech-demo games, I love them set-pieces and spectacle, both from the "hollyfuck I'm on a crumbling bridge with things exploding around me" standpoint as from the "hollyfuck they are animating and reawiding some very complex physics simulation and letting me platform around on it" (a technological achievement from animation standpoint even if baked, and hey, great simulation tech for baking them offline anyways) Point of view.
Even if the gameplay was shit, this game would be a purchase for me just for the spectacle alone. But then it's by Remedy, and you guys know how to make a killer shooter as well.
You guys are setting the bar very high on the technical wizardry there, I'm sure the guys at Naughty Dog are watching this with a bit of envy.
I'm sure this is going to be one of those stand out games from this gen. One to always be mentioned on talks about the first tier of trully next-gen stuff to show up. Congrats!

This reminds me a little of Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time where you had to use time solve platforming. QB looks a little less meta as there only looks to be one Jack at one time, where you have to get meta with ACiT with multiple instances of yourself doing things all synchronised.

Very cool looking, though. Chalk up another reason to get to buy an Xbox One

This is an old build right?

Well the game's not exactly done yet now is it ;-) But yeah we had some bugs there back then, many of them addressed already along with lots of other improvements.

Visual bugs aside, we actually stumbled upon a fairly reproducible crash bug in the stage demo when it was too late to fix it :) Was then too nervous to watch our bit in the keynote. Had to hide behind a chair in the meeting room where everyone had gathered and then when it didn't crash, did a victory lap around the office and got really, really drunk :)

The best and honest statement/answer I heard from a developer in awhile.

Another good game for Xbox One. Visually exclusive game on PS4 and Xbox One are very impressive much more than 3rd party...

We have seen what MS has done with other studio purchases - I think not. A PC edition would be nice and welcomed.

Agree to disagree. Ms dont have to buy Remedy to keep this title a Xbox One exclusive.
What is so wrong with Ms getting exclusives from 2nd or 3rd party studios? Certain companies built their success with this same strategy. If a game is truly impressive and interesting to a person they will play itno matter what system it is released on.
Quantum Break is that game to me and I am sure there are other gamers out there that feel the same way. That is why I say Ms would be smart to do whatever it takes to make this game Xbox One exclusive. They can achieve this without purchasing Remedy or purchasing the QB ip. Also whatever your opinion of what "Ms has done with other studio purchases" doesnt apply to every future circumstance.
