Although not confirmed from any reliable group yet (stay tuned for an update, as we're aware of other PSP Mods in the works from such groups), we have received word that a solderless PSP Mod may be on the way soon. Although it requires you to replace some of the motherboard wires (included in the package), rumor has it the PSP Mod will sell for as low as $22.99 US beginning on around November 19th in an initial 100-chip production run. With this chip you can play any region-coded UMD on your PSP, along with PSP homebrew regardless of your PSP's firmware version. The picture (right) displays one of their technical specialists circuit-checking the final prototype. According to the documentation available, the PSP Mod will offer the following features providing it actually surfaces:

* Full control Input through the PSP’s screen and controls
* Separated from the motherboard
* Custom Interface
* Built-In 88mhz Processor
* Dual Memory Cores (allowing for expansion)
* Software completely open source
* Completely internal
* Allows play of Import UMD films
* Complete override of software on the PSP ("Homebrew Mode" only allows software to be run from Memory Stick, "Normal Mode" allows use of chip’s default features and runs signed code via Memory Stick)
* CPU Clocking allows speeds of up to 365mhz (may damage the CPU, not recommended)
* Through an optional cable you can connect a USB hard drive to the chip- requires you to use the chip's own software... you can not use it directly with the PSP’s firmware
* Full instructions
* Requires (1) standard watch battery (included)

i dont know to believe it. sell it on ebay??

Wouldn't be surprised at all if true.

I have an xbox mod that is solderless and adds things like, USB ports, LCD display (for ticker-type of messages), etc. etc. Well it's two main parts really, the mod chip and a front panel replacement.

Haven't had the time to actually put the sucker in but it's supposed to work! ;)

put it in its worth it :) . i used an xbox just for his mediacenter capabilities for 2 years.

This is complete nonsense. CPU equipped? Why? Where's the program that this processor boots off of stored? What exactly does it do and why is it necessary? What are "dual memory cores" and what have they to do with "expansion"? "Software completely open source" - nonsense. Where will it fit? And even a 88 MHz ARM7 will drain that watch battery after a few days of operation. There's so much crap on that list it's amazing.

To me it sounds like a bunch of kids threw as many buzzwords together as they could find - "open source," "dual core," "embedded CPU." It's the "3dhq Revenge" days all over again.

Arguably the stupidest part is: to be sold on ebay. Sorry to say this but, modchips are banned from there and have been for quite some while.
