Although not confirmed from any reliable group yet (stay tuned for an update, as we're aware of other PSP Mods in the works from such groups), we have received word that a solderless PSP Mod may be on the way soon. Although it requires you to replace some of the motherboard wires (included in the package), rumor has it the PSP Mod will sell for as low as $22.99 US beginning on around November 19th in an initial 100-chip production run. With this chip you can play any region-coded UMD on your PSP, along with PSP homebrew regardless of your PSP's firmware version. The picture (right) displays one of their technical specialists circuit-checking the final prototype. According to the documentation available, the PSP Mod will offer the following features providing it actually surfaces:
* Full control Input through the PSP’s screen and controls
* Separated from the motherboard
* Custom Interface
* Built-In 88mhz Processor
* Dual Memory Cores (allowing for expansion)
* Software completely open source
* Completely internal
* Allows play of Import UMD films
* Complete override of software on the PSP ("Homebrew Mode" only allows software to be run from Memory Stick, "Normal Mode" allows use of chip’s default features and runs signed code via Memory Stick)
* CPU Clocking allows speeds of up to 365mhz (may damage the CPU, not recommended)
* Through an optional cable you can connect a USB hard drive to the chip- requires you to use the chip's own software... you can not use it directly with the PSP’s firmware
* Full instructions
* Requires (1) standard watch battery (included)
