stability!I think the 'issue' here is why is the Neo (potentially) 3cm thicker and 4lb heavier if all it is is the GPU upgrade and a reasonable overclock. Maybe the noise complaints have meant they've overhauled the cooling but that's quite an upgrade.
PS4 owners will go from mocking Xbox One originals large size to justifying a larger console with neo because of "cooler and quieter" payoffs.
And it will probably still be smaller than the original X1
I think the joke was that the og X1 offered inferior h/w while being significantly larger while also still having an external power brick. I have to be honest though, its quiet nature was most welcome
It sounds to me that it will be close to original Xbox One's size. 3cm thicker than orginial PS4 is fairly significant.
Closer to the original X1 is a reasonable expectation but i still expect it to be fairly smaller (especially width and height).
Thicker could mean a lot of things (diameter, height, width, length, combination). But like i said, it's not that far away, we'll know soon enough (except if they don't show the actual h/w).
Or, you know, some of us don't give a fuck. Just offering an alternate possibility to your insight on PS4 owners.PS4 owners will go from mocking Xbox One originals large size to justifying a larger console with neo because of "cooler and quieter" payoffs.
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if they have changed PS4's pressurised airflow system. As long as it has an internal power supply, and a stackable design with front-to-back airflow, I'm good.
Nah, TB. The 3cm additional thickness is required to house a JBOD RAID array. What's with the 5.5TB, shouldn't it be TF?
Xbone was mocked because it was a sloppy, lazy design which was mostly empty space housing weaksauce hardware, plus a bigass power brick on top. PS3 Phat was BIG and fricken heavy in its launch iteration, but there was logic behind the design. It was all very well thought-out. Just because you're big doesn't mean you're automatically worthy of mocking; there's no hypocrisy at play here.PS4 owners will go from mocking Xbox One originals large size to justifying a larger console with neo because of "cooler and quieter" payoffs.
I'm assuming Neo will launch at the rumored 4.2TF performance level, assuming that number is at all correct of course. Bumping performance late in the game is risky, and brings with it costs as well, and console business is cost sensitive; or it is if you want to remain profitable anyway... Sony has offered inferior performance in the past and been very successful despite it, so it's not as if you HAVE to compulsively react to a competitor's more powerful hardware. The Neo if at 5.5TF, would of course be targeting the Xbox Scorpio.
If you think paying tribute to George Foreman was logical...PS3 Phat was BIG and fricken heavy in its launch iteration, but there was logic behind the design.
