[PS3] Uncharted 2

I think we are thinking of different things, when i say warping\sliding i mean the issue that happends mainly whenever drake has to scale (up\down) objects.

Ah no, i was talking about the sliding on the ground...when he walked in the first game it used to look like he was ice-skating. Now Drake is very attached to the environment with proper weight and no ice skating.

I'll have a look at this platforming thing later.

Where is the tricky platforming people are talking about? Either I'm amazing at platforming games, or this one basically offers absolutely no challenge in platforming. I think I'd actually have to go out of my way to try to miss a jump. All of the jumping is heavily assisted. If you jump from the right spot, he'll jump the right distance and in the right direction. Maybe if you were startled by a noise in your house, and you jerked the controller as you were jumping, you might jump in the wrong direction. Also, I haven't fallen on a balance beam yet. They removed the six axis control, so it's just as easy as walking. Getting hurt or dying is basically out of the question, so far. It's also very easy to figure out where you can climb, and there is only one way to go.

I understand that platforming can be very frustrating, so I understand why devs would shy away from making it difficult. But platforming games can be very exciting if they find the right balance between user control and difficulty.

Finished yesterday. One of the best exclusive of the ps3, any ps3 owners must buy it, not have excuse, only the village part could be a reason. Pure poetry. Only a disappoint: the cut scenes not support nathan costumized and some bad textures in the final area.

Personally I think this is the right decision for U2. It's clear to me my intention, to walk acrodd the beam or jump the gap, and to have the character not do what I want due to some control quirk would just be frustrating. Of course if you do it this way, the platforming aspects have to be designed appropriately. Long levels of tricky jumps are engaging in a true platformer designed to test platforming skills, but long levels of assisted jumps in an adventure game is just as dull as long levels or walking.

I wno't be getting U2 for a good month or so at least, I reckon, as I have too much other stuff to do. :(

I'm nearing the end. Awesome game!

Only complaints graphically are aliasing and occasionally blocky shadows. The lighting overall is the best I've seen on any console.

The presentation of the story (not the story itself) is indeed the best I've seen in any game. The cast really makes it come alive. Naughty Dog - MORE SULLY !

The only graphical oddity I've noticed was one of the levels where you're standing in a dark room, in a pool of water, the flashlights seemed to cause some weird speckling on the characters. I imagine it is supposed to be the light of the water reflecting back on their wet bodies, but it looked like white dots. Overbright specular highlights? Aliasing and some blocky shadows are par for the course this gen, and very minor problems. You really have to nitpick with this game to find any problems graphically.

Well, my problem is not that it's easy. It's easier than easy. It's automatic. It's as easy as walking on flat ground. Some of the platforming sequences are lengthy, and while they show off the graphics, they begin to overstay their welcome.

After one cutscene...the environment was flashing at me...weird glitch. Otherwise not much. What chapter are you on?

Aw i don't think so. I really enjoy the change in pace. And I've jumped of the wrong ledge and died a number of times.

12.

I've noticed some scripting errors. There was a platform that exploded in one jungle level, but the explosive that was supposed to have blown up the platform had not detonated.

I'll spoiler tag the last one I saw because I don't want to ruin the scene
In Chapter 11 when you're escaping the enemy with the blond girl, there is a section where you have to catch her as she jumps a gap. I guess I triggered the action too late by pressing triangle, so she was killed, but Drake commenced to catch nothing, say "I've got you!" and proceed to pull nothing up to safety. Pretty funny to see.

There were a couple other equally minor errors that I'm forgetting. I'm just mentioning these for informations sake. Not complaining in the slightest.

Im on chapter 0 at the moment. I`m at the part where i don`t own the game yet, and its better than i thought!............................

Just because it's par for the course and very minor doesn't mean I can't complain about it.

Only noticed one glitch
On the train, when you grab the RPG and shoot the helicopter, then open the door to move on to the next cart, the door slowly swung open and killed me on contact . I thought I'd done something wrong, but on the next try it worked.

Ah you're not up to the cool platforming section then BTW

I'm going to replay it immediately after I finish. There's a lot of stuff to unlock. I also plan on starting the co-op campaign with a friend this weekend. This game is better than the first in every way. I never want to stop playing it, but there were plenty of times in the first that I wanted to quit out of frustration. I haven't even finished UC1, but I'm 80% through UC2.

I finished the game and overall it was amazing. The graphics and animations are hands down the best this gen, in my opinion. ND really nailed it with this one. My only minor complaint is the same one a lot of reviews have mentioned and that is the game tends to drag on at some points (e.g. fighting wave after wave of enemies). Other than that though the game was flawless.

Overall, major props to the amazing talent that made this game (the people of ND) and the amazing talent that made up the cast (Nolan North and everyone else were spectacular).

Oh and
Drake's journal is hysterical. Gotta love that Victor 'Goddamn' Sullivan!

Yes, the first village scene is the one that broke me. Until then, I was still cruising along rushing to complete the game. When the village scene came on, I suddenly realized that this is not just a game. It is an achievement, a statement on behalf of the entire industry.

You lot have come very very far from the pixel art era. All of you need to find some place to celebrate.

Play more. I don't think the platforming and puzzles are obvious to everyone. I also don't think a full take on "old school" platforming is needed here. The game does not have to do everything to please. It should take suitable elements from different schools, and lay them out in its own way.

Btw, for people looking for visual flaws, they can be found in many places. If I noticed them, everyone can. :)
It's just that the high point of this game has reached heights I have not seen before. I haven't encountered a glitch yet though.

Ha ha, I found that page too. "Goddamn classic". :)

EDIT: BTW, I have not completed the game. Too many enemies and it was 6:58am. I decided to rest for a short while before work. ;-)
