Well I got on earlier. ~7500 players online. There were no Optimal or Close games to join, and I had to wait a couple of minutes to find distant players. The end result was I got on, but the lag, I presume, did mess things up. What I saw was very smooth and coherent, but the gameplay felt awkward at times. I could riddle a guy with bullets and get no kill before they pop me in 2 shots or so. Okay, the old headshot kill comes into play, although I'd say the game was poorly balanced if the headshot is worth 30 body hits. However I wasn't getting headshots even though on screen I was clearly hitting them. Even with a sniper rifle squarely aimed, I could miss.
I think ND should make it clear that the game experience of laggy games is inaccurate in some way. Otherwise it will get frustrating for players not understanding why they can't kill another player emptying a clip into them.
