[PS3] Uncharted 2

And SP graphics are better. Graphics - best looking MP game alongside Killzone 2.

The amount of attention to detail and artistry is astounding. Extremely layered environments. Just look up in the Ice caves level...seriously.

Anyone felt the graphics engine is lacking something...some form of standout shader effects..? Game looks bright..colorful textures...buttery framerates...but the lighting felt lowresy...i know its only mp...but i like to see some high res normal mapping and explosions/flames/smokes and the HDR...the sort of effects from shader based hardware...the engine reminds me J&D in that its kinda pretty but plain?

The graphics engine is really very impressive. First good implementation of ambient occlusion in a shipping game I've seen.

However, the painted textures do drag down the impressiveness of the graphics engine, IMO. An engine with such sophisticated lighting is better presented with a photorealistic art direction.

This game is a shader monster, the combination of HDR, SSS on ice, SSAO, DOF, OBJ based motion blur and the high quality parralax mapped textures are just drop dead gorgeous. Sure it could use some AF and AA on the shadows here and there but in motion it's far less noticeable. Still not giving you boners?

So true.To a point most people can't imagine.

I like the art style of Uncharted, makes it look unique among all the other games that strive for realism, and manages to avoid that "uncanney valley".

Nah. Uncharted 2 wouldn't be unique then. Their textures are beautiful and are much higher-res in SP.

true....the painted contrasty look kinda hides a lot of subtle transparency effects...which to me is what shaders hw is meant to do....i did see the DOF and MB but how to spot SSAO or SSS.... gotta take a closer look at the final game.

Its easy to notice the SSAO...but if you are getting a hard time then do this,
Just take cover...& you'll see the SSAO. :)
or load up the temple level & watch the staircase.

P.S.[Whats SSS ? ]

So this means its everywhere :)
Never knew about it lol.
It's subtle. And as many creative designers and engineers will tell you, you know if you do your job well when people don't notice all the effort you're going to! If the end result looks natural, the player won't be aware of all the tech going on. They'll just appreciate the look.

I haven't really noticed the SSS myself, but in the midst of a game that's usual. I'll see if I can start a solo game of some sort and just explore.

Come to think of it, where is the official U2 forum ? We should be able to see many complains there. I did a quick search, but could only find marketing sites for U2.

I think PSN is having problems, people I know are online are shown as off and we are haveing serious problems getting Tiger Woods 10 Online games going at the moment.
