[PS3] Uncharted 2

Yeah, Uncharted's artstyle has always been inconsistent. Cartoony style doesn't match with good lighting and high res textures, but what can you do.

I completely agree. No matter how much I love the sequel's looks (and the firsts) I agree that it looks a little cartoony. I really think they should ditch that but it's a very, very minor gripe on my part.

It's probably inconsistent from people's past experiences, but there is no universal reference for arts. New things may feel strange sometimes.

I thought it's pretty normal for the water to reflect the cartoony world around it, and ripples.

I think I commented earlier that it's like playing in Van Gogh's Starry Starry Night village for real.

I find the art style in Uncharted is one of the main reasons it does look so good. I dont think it would look nearly as impressive if they whent for a realistic style using the same tech.

It's the only way it looks unique. That style IS Uncharted. Bored of grubby, grey/brown realistic shooters.

Be quick with your trigger finger, get yourself a Desert Eagle. It increases the teamwork I think.

Yeah, that is one of the cool things about it. I like to take them down with a headshot every time they grab a teammate. Although the melee attack from the front is also very entertaining to watch.

When you get grabbed can you break free? It tells you to spam triangle, but I've never actually seen anyone break free without being rescued by someone else. Just curious what pressing the triangle button is actually doing. Maybe I just need to bust out my button spamming abilities from the NES/SNES days.

Damn, I wish replay mode recorded the chatter :D
I just pwned a lot of level 30-49 noobs, while i'm at level 8 or something :D

Anyway, great game already

I think it's exactly the oposit. It wouldn't not cost more to make it realistic ,and the whole technical achievement would be much more widly accepted as very impressive.
Most people need a strong connection to visual reality to think it's impressive.

I dissagree. Having realistic graphics would make drakes platforming antics look totaly out of place. As it is it manages to just cling on to some form of believability and not look totally ridiculous. Realism is fine for games based in reality like war games or racers but for pretty much anything else i would prefer a unique stylized look. To me Last Guardian is one of the most beautiful games i have seen, precisely because it isnt going for realism.

Come to think of it i cant name a single game outside of maybe GT that has actually achieved realism. The closer games get the easier it is to see the flaws. Uncanny valley doesnt only apply to faces...

Obviously animations and gameplay mechanics can be adapted, too, to a more realistic visiual. It's design.

Yes it does.'Uncanny valley' describes a human resemblance (robotics/virtual humans) phenomenom .

Btw , i like uncharted the way it is , i'm glad they went for stylized approach.Realism is mostly boring, imo and also a big risk character/acting wise.

Anyone have info on how I can fix my mic? I'd like to do co-op with my mic working for a little coordination. The survival mode, or whatever it was called, where you had to survive waves of enemies while transporting those treasures seemed like it would require a lot of strategy once the difficulty ramped up.

Got to level 7 on that without communication. It can be done, but true, talk would make it easier.

What problem are you having? You can turn down the volume etc...

But Uncharted looks better than reality. More fantastical, more colourful. Reality doesn't have anything on U2.

Just prolongs the time you stay alive before he breaks your neck. Gives you more time for a friend to help you out :) Add me, we can play co-op.

Played with my brother last night doing the co-op mission and gold rush. The co-op mission ends very abruptly, so I'm assuming it's cut short? Very fun game.

Oddly enough, we're both having mic problems. My mic seems to activate if there is any sound in my room at all. It's almost on constantly. His mic won't pick up anything whatsoever. We ended up playing while talking on the phone.

Try calibrating these in the XMB settings? You can test the sensitivity there, and set it from 1-5. Might help?

Whatever I set it to, it doesn't change anything. I've tried all the settings and the mic always pics up background noise.

My brother had his paired, but when he turned it on it was like it wasn't working at all. When I spoke on my mic the audio would play through his speakers like hsi mic wasn't on. But if he want to manage bluetooth devices, the mic was showing with the blue dot beside it, and when he turned the mic on he got a message in the top right saying his mic was detected or something. We're both using the official bluetooth headset.

Oh, I just found the manual online. It's nice that the product didn't come with the full manual. It says that there are advance features that only work if you pair using the USB cable. Did not know that, so I'll try it out when I get home.
