PS3 Spec change possibility?

Hmm, PS3 has an external brick too?

If that means little or no fan noise, that would be a good tradeoff. But if it's still noisy and you got a big thing to lug around, that would be a drag.

The E3 prototype PS3 box had what looked like a standard 3-pin 'kettle plug' AC connector. Definitely didn't look like the sort of thing I'd expect an external power brick to end with.

One thing that I hope they dont change is the advertised ability to 'age my movies during night'.

Seriously I have always felt they started very late to develop the OS and included apps for the PS3 (it didnt seem tought through/decided at E3). And with no HDD I just dont think we will be able to chat, surf, e-mail on the second TV-out while someone else is gaming/watching a DVD/BR unless those apps are included on all DVDs/BRs. But I can see them delivering a DVD together with the PS3 with lots of apps.

There was an early interview (around E3 time) where it was mentioned that the PS3 had an internal power supply, like the PS2 (not PStwo). Not sure if that is still their plan or not, but if it is true it should be pretty easy for them to make a PS3 by just taking out the power supply (for the size change at least).

PSP, anyone?

Ok, so NVidia just shipped the equivalent of a 110nm RSX @ 550Mhz/1700Ghz RAM.

One has to wonder if the core clock of the 90nm RSX or the RAM will get a speedbump in the final PS3.

Hey we already wondered that a two pages ago. ;)

Anyway I think that the 90nm, SOI, and low-k will be used primarily for heat/power savings. Mayeb they'll push the speed to whetever some nominal chosen voltage will allow though; 560 or 570? Likewise could end up 530 or 540 just to use that lower voltage notch. Memory though I could in actuality see being boosted, but again a page or two ago we're all up in that.
