Whats so different about the 360 launch games (~15 titles) that lead to an higher attachment rate?

Xbox360 buyers are a different demographic, one which purchases games more often. From my experience its a older demographic with more disposable income.

Older than the ps3 demographic? Really??

I'd like to see some numbers/link to that!

Personally I don't see too many kids with $600 to drop on a console ...:???:

Launch tie ratio for xb360 was around it's current mark of 5, AFAIR.

I think a deeper issue can explain the low tie ratio.

Expectations.
Or maybe they aren't being FORCED into buying 3 or 4 games with every console due to the fact they aren't being bundled at just about every store selling them.

Give it a rest why don't you.

LOL. Chill out dude.

We won't know how well the PS3 is doing in Europe for at least a month. Any console can sell well when it launches. The true test is how many will pick it up at the current price point when the hype dies down. Look at what happened in NA. Not good.

Of course since it hasn't done as well as they had planned and they didn't sell-out on launch it's now a "part of their plan" They truly are the masters of PR spin.

I think for a console that just launched it offers too many great things. Besides, multiplatform games although look better on 360 they are only slightly better looking, hard to notice the difference in qualitiy unless you put them next to each other. This is bound to change too.

We do all know the limiting factor involved with this poorly thought idea is the amount of available RAM right? It doesn't matter what you want to believe, but one must realize, given one system has more available RAM, and RAM is the limiting factor, unless the PS3 lowers the OS requirements, this is not "bound" to change.

Anyway, this is a good launch, Sony delivered enough boxes so that gamers could pick up a console (noone was forced to buy games) without fighting. Of course this is bad news for some, i dunno why, if sony had landed 2 million PS3´s in the UK, sold 1.5 million in one day i´m sure we would still be seing some guys claiming they had a bad day and was working the PR machine.

What good is storage if you can not fit it in the RAM? So when we start seeing 100GB BR discs the games will look even better on the PS3?

Anyway, so far I guess it is a good launch, it could be more peoples expectations on that Sonys new console should not have problems seeling through its first million over a weekend...

Dr Frankenstein: IT'S ALLIIIIVE! ;)

Impressive that they set a new record, but since this is the first launch in recent memory that wasn't supply limited, I don't know how meaningful it is.

I find these numbers really surprising, as anecdotally I don't see the sales frenzy that other launches have had......maybe everyone bought them online?
For such a successful launch I find it strange that online retailers have already started discounting it. I noticed that yesterday www.aria.co.uk and www.dvd.co.uk both dropped their price from £425 to £399.

Well, this *is* good news for the PS3 and SONY - no matter how much some people try to play it down! (surprise surprise )

I'm interested to see if this demand will carry through April, or if it's just the hardcore gamers keeping demand up, then die down when they're satisfied. Time will tell, I guess.

Easter holidays could help. I also do expect there to be some additional sales from people who have seen the console at a friend's place. After that though, it will need some additional impulses, in the form of new games, downloads, features, more prominent BluRay promotion in media stores, and then in the form of price-reductions. I'm fairly sure there are a lot of people who are going to wait for a price drop - no matter how good value the console already is, you also have to be able to drop that kind of money for it.

I saw the whole price thing happen in the store - two guys were debating whether to get a 360 or a PS3. One of them had already bought a Wii, just for fun. 250 is apparently something at least some people (these looked like students) can spend without too much of a pain, but 600 is a different matter. For the PS3 and 360, they were definitely going to get one, but they said they'd wait until Christmas to make up their mind.

Though that said I think I may have influenced one guy a little more towards getting a PS3 sooner ... ;)

What good is RAM for textures when you have poor texel fillrate?

My mommy told me that 16 and 12 are both less than 24. My mommy is always right! Don't insult my mommy!

Did your mommy ever tell you that 16 & 12 are both better than 8 and good enough for a £400 HD console?

If she didn't then maybe RR7 is not the only thing thats been lying to you.. ;)
