[PS3] Killzone 2

Ah I always assume red means danger, but it didn't explode. I must have been a Helghast soldier then. So there is no blinking beacon for the airbot at all ?

Thanks Ostepop!

I guess I've been lucky then so far. I do run in to the occasional C4 charge every now and then, but usually, I'm quite lucky to survive or I usually play larger levels where placing them may be trickier when you're only a handful of players. The blinking charges probably never occured to me, since I never saw them in time (either being dead already or just barely surving after a charge went off in my face). Judging by my "ability rating" on Killzone2.com, I seem to run into them more often than I give them credit for... teh-heh.. :D

I definately need to get this ability. I've been way to lazy since I've started playing as a tactician and haven't really tryed to level up my other classes really. When I play as a different class other than tactician, I usually get annoyed about no one placing any tactical good spawn points which makes winning quite difficult. I would say good spawn point placement can lead the way to many victories, but without it, you're severly handicaped. Especially in the Search&Destroy / Capture&Hold / Search&Retrieve missions...

patsu, the airbot transmitter also blinks as well. That one is very obvious though. Always in open spaces and on the ground and rather large too.

Yeah, in our game together yesterday I ran into a C4 charge for the first time as well. Fortunately it was just that once, probably due to me being on the right team for most of the time. ;)

Wow so lucky ! Sometimes I ran into 4-5 C4s in one game. It's easy to get a kill because of choke points and popular hunting grounds. When that happens, I usually switch to play as Scout.

C4 has different blinking lights depending on team. Helgan has red, human blue.

Obviously, if your human, a blue charge will not explode.

C4-light, sentry bot-beacon and spawnsmoke is always green for you regardless of faction. Red C4, beacon and smoke is always enemy. :)

Ah... sounds more familiar. I don't remember blue blinking lights very well.

Incidentally, it looks like GG is planning to reuse the KZ2 engine:

The info comes from Steven Tjoe's online resume:

I hope one of those projects is the G-Police remake that was hinted at a fair while ago. Something like that would be pretty sweet I think. I wasn't even a huge fan of the original, but I see some awesome potential for that kind of game now.

Ok first off I never really gave kz2 a fair shot(loved the SP). I bought it release day(actually went to my first midnight release), didnt like it (wasnt ready to leave cod at the time). I still read a lot of the post on the kz2 boards and it seems a lot of the complaining may be gone so im coming back. Ok question, what advise or suggestions does anybody here have for me? I want to like my $60 purchase so im coming back to try it again. what should I stay away from or what should I try to do to like this game.

im not here to flame-just want to enjoy my $60

Do you mean you finished the single player campaign but haven't played it online yet? If so, the first thing I would recommend is going into online options and selecting high precision mode. Particularly if you come from CoD, that's going to help you a bunch. For the rest, I'm not sure where to start exactly (maybe specialise in medic or engineer) and go for some badges. Also, add patsu, phil and the other regular players here (or on GAF) to your friends list and try to join in when we're having some multi-player fun. ;)

Turn on high precision and aiming will be pretty good. You will still become a terrible cod player thought because the pace and aiming is so slow.

New search options are nice , you can see almost everything before joining a game... FF ON + Assault Off + Faction Balance is the perfect combination for me...

Actually Faction Balance option does not work as it's supposed to be... Join Friend option ruins it... GG will never make this game perfect , damn noobs...

@patsu
Yesterday was a bit weird , unbalanced teams and lag ruined the game sometimes but it was fun anyway... I am expecting to see you online more...

Eh... I am swarmed these days. :(

Was jumping with joy when I saw you guys online in KZ2. I didn't expect to see Kittonwy there, it's a little nostalgic (RFOM !!! WHY !???). I have been playing with the good people in Euro due to my odd playing hours.

EDIT: Btw, how do you switch side half way ?

I found killzone sp awesome & one of the best fps of this generation, a big surprise who I don't expected, buy two weeks ago. My complaint is only the multiplayer...wtf  no cover system?! The best 'innovative' part of the game. I mean why? I don't understood this choise, really absurd. I hate the multiplayer for this & the explanation of the developers is really meh :???: gameplay too slow for multiplayer...what the hell...and gow?!

I remember the devs explained their rationale in an interview. They found from play testing that the cover system didn't work as well in KZ2 MP because people were getting shot at from different directions. The cover didn't help. At that time, the movement was slower too so it's hard to recover from a flank. I don't know if a cover system will work better with the new dynamics.

Servers with autobalance won't let you do that, will they? I haven't played in a long time, but I remember most servers I played on had autobalance enabled.
If your team is not outnumbered or is equal to the other team numerically , and faction balance is on then you can't change your faction...

That sounds like a pretty lame reason.

Of course your going to get shot at from different locations? WTF? Should you be immortal at all times during cover? This happends in all games with cover mode? But by taking cover, you can atleast shield you from some of the angles.

I think the bigger problem is that with a cover system, defenders have natural advantage (they can stay well shielded and still have good view) coupled with slow pacing would make it fairly hard for attacking team.

The problem is that the mechanic when you're in cover like in the SP game, that you are practically an open target from anyone other than the direction you're covering from. And because you're playing in a sandbox environment, there's pretty much no use for it, since your enemies aren't coming from one direction (like in SP), but from anywhere (unless you're hiding like a chicken at your base, although even there, you have different routes). Hence why in a practical sense, the feature doesn't work very well so there wasn't much point in leaving it in it in the first place. I agree. If you want cover, use the terrain to your advantage (a must anyway).
