[PS3] Killzone 2

If I recall correctly, it's around 90MB.

The new game info is really helpful, btw. Makes it easier to dismiss the games that have stuff disabled that are wanted or not. Apart from that, didn't really notice much with lag or less slowdowns, though I didn't play any 32player matches last night...

Well I'm talking only of SP and the final part with massive battles in the vizari palace I think is really more smooth, I can't believe is a simple placebo effect. Before the patch (one day before ) I'm not tolerate the slowdowns in this part. I don't know if depending to loading directly the level indeed to play progressively.

One thing, Guerrilla should definately pack into their next update:

A "one click" option to mute everyone who is not on your team or squad. It's so annoying being in 32player matches and having to mute every single one of them, until the noise stops. It's even more annoying if you don't have a headset connected and it's real loud over the big speakers.

Yeah, that's probably true - but in smaller levels like Tharsis or Radec or in any other level where one team gains an advantage and spawn camp right in front or in your base, they're all near by anyway. Or when you're in the startup screen or mission summary screen.

I love social gaming and talking with friends and buddies over headset, but there are also a lot of very annoying people outthere that either swear at people (sometimes funny!) or cause annoyance by yelling into the headset, listening to loud music etc. A simple click-to-mute-all would be great.

Oh and another thing: Anyone else find the shotgun way to overpowered? I don't understand how a shotgun can kill me instantly from a 30+ feet distance, sometimes with full health and no headshot. The whole point of a shotgun would have to be short range and large hitting radius but with less damage (and futile up close)...

It is. A huge number of clans plays 5 vs. 5 with a setup consisted of 4 engineers and 1 tactician. Not only is the engineer's weapon imbalanced, the constant turret spam makes it, after assault, the most over powered class in the game, ESPECIALLY on smaller maps.

KZ2 is very poorly balanced. I completely stopped playing it. Im gonna go back once i start missing sniping again however. I like the Sniperrifle\Magnum combo + slow moving targets.

Anyways, i wish there where more weapons, i like the look at feel of a few of the automatic weapons, i completely hate the LMG's, i dont like using rocket launcher by principle, shotgun is good in this game, but i often favor bigger maps.

PS: New aiming option is fixed the piss poor aiming setup. Going from CoD4 to KZ2 and vice versa is not as hard, except for getting used to the speed.

I guess I just seriously suck at this game as I find the shotgun pretty much unusable. Obviously it is useless at long range and at close range it is too directional so if I miss the first shot (which often happens unless the person runs right at me and does not have a long range weapon), by the time it is ready to fire again I am already dead. With pretty much any of the melee weapons I use the club option instead as I find it far more reliable and effective up close (though I tend to end up doing a lot of spinning around because of the tight angle of view).

Could be partially lag related as well I suppose. . .yeah, can't just be that I suck.

=)

Cheers

I'm glad I'm not the only one then. I guess I could play with the shotgun too, but I have found to be way more efficient at killing when I use the standard default rifle. That, and I just can't bother to sneak up on my targets to get them close enough. I prefer to take them on full on, no matter if long distance or short distance. The default rifle is very effective.

@deathindustrial,
Yeah, I'm not very efficient using the shotgun either. Though that's just probably down to practice. I know that there are very skilled players outthere that use the shotgun very efficiently and are lethel with it from medium to short distances - [long] distances where I personally think the shotgun is way to accurate and futile to get a one shot kill. Up close, no issue there - the shotgun should be lethel up close. But not 30+ feet.

Apart from that, no real complaints there.

To be fair, I think in every game there's a bit of an unbalance. There's just no way you can level out different weapons to give everyone equal chances at a 1 to 1 battle. Maybe the shotgun is a bit overpowered, but then is that the fault of player using it or is it the fault of the player running into his line of sight?

I guess I could be more careful to not run into situations where someone can blast me away with a single shot with his shotgun. Using the standard rifle, I can pretty much eliminate anything from close to far, but naturally, there are some weapons that are better suited at various ranges. The sniper is way more effective long range than my rifle as is the shotgun at close range. The standard rifle is a very good allround weapon though, which is why I usually stick to that.

I would say, engineer together with the boost as 2nd ability is a very dangerous combo though. You can hardly shoot them when they're on boost and being on boost gets them close enough quickly enough to blast you away with a single precice shot. On the contrary though, a well organised team should be able to tackle that...

Sorry guys, I got disconnected from PSN in the middle of our game. 8^(

Have a concall now. Will join later or next time. I am glad we played though. Damn Phil is too strong. I sent an XMB message to get ChryZ to join us against Phil. KZ2 paired both of them together instead (T_T)

RenegadeRocks, you can't join us in KZ2 anymore ?

Heh, how you guys managing it?? Everytime I log onto PSN I'll check the B3D room and it'll be empty!

Still, I'll keep plugging away.

Some of the Euro people are in the chatroom in the morning (PST 7 - 10am) *sometimes*
You'll get a party of 5-7 people.

Sorry patsu - didn't realize that you wanted ChryZ to play against me. The whole thing was a bit confusing. Now that I think of it, we should have just opened up a new game and done a 5 vs 5: Us against the rest.

I was actually struggling a bit to be honest - while we were playing the evening sun lit up my livingroom and that doesn't mix too well with a projector. It's alright up close and in the lighter levels, but long distance is a challenge sometimes. Still, it was a lot of fun playing together. I hope we can repeat that again some day. Great effort from everyone.

I also thought it was quite funny that last game - this guy, Froschkoenig I think, he placed C4 everywhere and I managed to walk into them, every - single - time. It would have been great if we could have made it into one single team. Does anyone know if you can spot C4 charges or are they invisible when they're placed?

Sorry slider - I left Helghan about an hour before you probably checked the room. It was a bit too bright to play, so I decided to go for a drive. Usually I'd be home though - or around that time during week days. See you then?!

Seriously? You mean like the airbot transmitter? I spend nearly 3 hours a day on Helghan, but this I have never really checked so far. To be fair, you don't encounter many C4 charges in most games (or I've just been lucky in avoiding them), so it hasn't been something that has really been on my mind....... adding to that, I haven't unlocked it yet, so I couldn't really try it out myself...

Can you place them on walls as well or is the blinking light (the charge) always on the ground?

Not your fault.. coz I lagged out shortly. Didn't have time to get ChryZ to switch side. :p
I saw Jardel/keyn towards the end of the last match. Was going to rope him in but the team has disbanded by then.

I saw the blinking lights. Sometimes it doesn't explode. Are there different types of blinking devices ?

You can place them on walls aswell, blink thing is on the actual C4. So it would blink on the wall, if my memory is correct. The blinking is subtle, so its easy to miss.

Wierd that you dont encounter many C4 charges, i allmost use it in combo with all other classes, as its great for covering your back, or picking up 5-10 free kills per match by just throwing them together in hard to spot places that people run by alot. And there is no limit to them per life, so once you kill somebody, you just go and throw some new ones.

Having a lot of c4 as secondary ability in a team can be great for defence, (also when coupled with engineer) its a long while since i played KZ but if my memory is correct 2 charges kills anything but a heavy and 3 charges kills a heavy. So if you are defending, a team with a couple c4 abiltities can defend quite well, with some creative mine placing.
