[PS3] Killzone 2

....... Basically you're problem seems to be it not being a COD or a Halo clone.

Or controlling like any other console FPS for that matter....

I'm going to assume you've never fired a weapon in real life.

Anyway, I don't have much of a problem, be it aiming or moving, but I'm also playing the game at the default setting for speed, which helps a lot.

Aiming is essential, if you're having a huge problem with it, hten you're too close. You have to understand, Iron Sights are only used in mid to long range, and most games get iron sights terribly wrong (like CoD4, for instance).

What I recommend is turning off the cross hair. I did, and it really really helps me, especially with the immersion, and will help you better judge when to use your iron sights, and when to fire from the hip.

I am only using 'iron sights' at mid/long range, shooting enemies across the street, in balconies etc, or when they're in cover and I want to shoot their helmets off.

I'm currently at the part in level 3 where you have to defend against waves of enemies, I just finished the cable car wave no problem, but now there's one where two heavy's approach you from either side. It is absolutely BS how hard they are to kill, you have to do the 'make them turn around and shoot their tanks' rigmarole like 8-10 times to kill them all while being shoot at by their escort of other Helghast, and their two of them.

USe the mounted guns on either side for that part. One very spammy application of the mounted gun to their back should do it.

That part is easy. Dunno why your complaining. Either just sit on the top roof and snipe, or just man the machine guns. Not particularly hard..

I wouldn't say that part is easy,I died a few times before I figured out the right stratagy and got the feel of that section.

Oh great :( Another crap online implementation. The whole reason for me buying the game, and we're not going to be able to play together. Any word when GG are gonna fix this? I just don't understand how devs always miss the idea that friends want to meet up and play together, and they need to facilitate this!

It's not really crap online implementation -- there's a ton of features that I didn't expect in a console shooters. It's more... solid implementation puzzlingly missing a few large features.

I don't get why people are still surprised about this. You wanted free online, you got free online. Nothing is provided or standardized with PS3 online, it's all a haphazard mess that will vary with every title, that's the way it goes. If you want a consistent and uniform online experience with every game then you are on the wrong console for it. If you want this to change then petition Sony to help us because right now it's not even remotely on their list of priorities.

Probably because the majority of gamers dont actually care.

As GG get feedback they'll implement patches that improve flexibility. They've come on record about this several times. To me, this is better than paying for the privilege of playing online and having a few extra options.

Does somebody know how to get by the last checkpoint before the end fight in Elite difficulty ?
I mean the fight to the stairs at the door to the inside , how many waves are there - do they spawn infinately ? I managed to rush to that checkpoint from the previous one , but that part is really tough...and I don`t want to even think of the one after that yet.

Well... I have already requested for specific party and clan management features in the official Playstation Home forum (They are not available elsewhere too :)). Since/if Home can sustain itself with its business models, Sony should still be able to offer advanced online gaming features for free. Not sure if these featues will make it into XMB though (I hope so).

The open-endedness also gives the devs and middleware guys more freedom to innovate in online gaming. There will be subpar implementations for sure, but there'd also be interesting ones.

Anyway,
I just finished blowing up the Arc Tower. Love the ATAC cutscene after that. :)

Are you joking?

Beaten the game already. It was like an awesome rollercoaster ride. My only complaint still lies in the controls. I find the default setting the best setup for single player but still have trouble aiming against moving target.

Can anybody tell me whats the best X/Y sensitivity for the single player?

Up to the second part of the fight inside the palace, been pretty cool so far. One thing I hate is the Helghans' propensity to use RPGs as an anti-infantry weapon. Though I have to admit it certainly gets better results than small-arms fire.

There are mounted guns? I was in the sniper tower and didn't see any.

I didn't see any of the AI on MG emplacements either (but it is rather dark), i'll have a look.

Why would you think Joker's joking? (sorry for the pun)

I actually read it more as a developers frustration at a lack of standardization. How can a developer be happy about implementing a bespoke party or match-making subsystem? These are after all, somewhat expected by many users to be a part of any online multi-player game. If left to the devices of developers whose priorities may weigh other areas more, you'll invariably get implementations of varying quality with different feature sets.

Let me preface this by saying that Killzone 2 is a graphical masterpiece, and a lot of the features/options in the online mode are a lot of fun and will keep me playing for a long time. I'm also primarly an xbox 360 user, which I only mention because it may help to explain my inexperience when setting up online games on the PS3 (see below).

I've put around 15 hours of KZ2 this weekend with a few buddies of mine, and we were all very frustrated setting up the first few multiplayer games. Setting up our very first multiplayer match was especially frustrating. None of us had setup a game before on killzone (or on the ps3), so we attempted our standard approach: create a "party" and join a game as a group. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a party feature, and we couldn't get the group chat to work within the game, so we turned to a long series of phone calls to everyone trying to coordinate everything ahead of time. I tried joining a random game, and then got everyone to join my game. Unfortunately, the worlds were almost all full, so only one or two friends could join my game right away. After repeatedly hitting the "join" button (up to 10 minutes for one of my friends), hoping that someone outside our group had left the game, everyone was finally in the the same game. Unfortunatly (again), from this point forward, our group was always split up on different teams. The frustration still continues, but luckily the game is awesome enough to make up for its shortcomings (like the controls, but there's no use in me detailing what others have said).

I don't want to sound all negative, there were definitely lots of "holy shit, this looks amazing" and "jebus, this is awesome" moments. And it's also possible that my group, being primarily xbox gamers, are just retarded ( ) when it comes to doing things a way that we aren't used to. Overall, it's a great game, but it desperately needs a party feature (unless I'm missing it, in which case I just have to figure out how to use it).

From what I have read, KZ2 does not have a party system (same as Warhawk). Someone sets up a room (aka Warzone) and everyone else join. I heard there's a way to reserve slots for your friends but I am not sure.

In addition, I think you can only set up a clan if you're above certain rank.

Earlier on, someone in GG said that a KZ2 Home Space is in the works. If this is still true, I wouldn't be surprise if it follows Warhawk's model: Use Home for party management.

There must be technical reasons that explain why high profile games miss the "play with friends feature", maybe they fear it requires to many servers, maybe they think it will starve the open servers. Whatever reason they may come up with, it still sux HARD!

The enemies are quite like Uncharted's in their constant ducking and weaving, but it's much harder to take them out in KZ2 due to the controls, I wish they were more natural.

I would say use the standard controls. Using ALt 2 in MP works great, but in SP, the standard ones work the best.If u use ALternate 2 in SP, then Shooting from cover becomes a pain as you have to Press L2+L1+Push on left stick+R1, which doesn't work at all in difficult situations. Using standard controls removes one of the buttons to be presses, as it turns into L2+Push on left stick+R1, as R3 has to clicked and left alone . Personally for me, it is the L2+L1 together that creates a problem on Alt2 controls, I played with standard controls and didn't face any problems at all.

Can't you set up a password protected online game in Killzone 2?
Wouldn't that make it possble to play only with your friends, and be essentially the same as some Party option?

I play online very little, so forgive if I'm wrong.
